NVIDIA RTX A2000 Laptop GPU
De NVIDIA RTX A2000 Laptop GPU of A2000 Mobile is een professionele grafische kaart voor mobiele werkstations. Hij is gebaseerd op de GA107 Ampere-chip en biedt vergelijkbare prestaties als de GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU voor consumenten. Hij biedt ook 2.560 CUDA, 20 Raytracing en 80 Tensor cores gekoppeld aan een 128 Bit geheugenbus. Hij is verkrijgbaar in verschillende varianten van 35 - 95 Watt (TGP) met verschillende kloksnelheden (en prestaties). De GPU ondersteunt eDP 1.4b om de interne monitor aan te sluiten en DisplayPort 1.4 en HDMI 2.1 voor externe aansluitingen.
Er is geen Max-Q variant meer (vroeger gebruikt voor de low power varianten) maar elke OEM kan kiezen om Max-Q technologieën te implementeren (Dynamic Boost, WhisperMode).
De ruwe prestaties zouden vergelijkbaar moeten zijn met de GeForce RTX 3050 Ti voor laptops op hetzelfde TGP-niveau. Beide GPU's zijn sterk afhankelijk van goede koeling en een hoog TGP voor goede prestaties. Bij een vergelijkbaar stroomverbruik zou de RTX A2000 duidelijk sneller moeten zijn dan de oude Quadro T2000 en T2000 Max-Q.
De GA107 chip biedt 2.560 FP32 ALU's waarvan de helft ook INT32 instructies kan uitvoeren (d.w.z. 1.280 INT32 ALU's). Met Turing kunnen alle shaders nog FP32 of INT32 instructies uitvoeren. Ook de raytracing en tensor cores op de chip zijn volgens Nvidia verbeterd. De Ampere-chips bevatten ook een verbeterde 5e generatie video-encoder (NVENC voor H.264 en H.265) en een 7e generatie decoder (voor diverse formaten nu inclusief AV1).
De GA107 chip wordt door Samsung gefabriceerd in 8nm (8N), wat de 7nm node bij TSMC (o.a. gebruikt door AMD en ook voor de professionele GA100 Ampere chip) niet helemaal kan bijbenen. Afhankelijk van de TGP, kan de A2000 ook worden gebruikt in dunne en lichte laptops (met 35 Watt TGP bijvoorbeeld).
