Apple M4 9-Core GPU

De 9-core GPU Apple M4 is een grafische kaart die wordt gebruikt in de iPad Air met de M4-chip en biedt 9 van de 10 kernen. Dit betekent dat 144 van de 160 SIMD-EU's bruikbaar zijn in deze chip. Samen met de CPU heeft de GPU toegang tot 12 GB geünificeerd geheugen met een bandbreedte tot 120 GB/s.

Sommige populaire videocodecs kunnen hier HW-decodeerd en HW-gecodeerd worden, maar de lijst is lang niet zo lang als die van de huidige AMD iGPU's, laat staan van Intel iGPU's. Er is echter wel een gezonde selectie van moderne technologieën zoals ray tracing beschikbaar.

Net als de rest van de Apple M4 chip wordt de grafische kaart gemaakt in een tweede-generatie TSMC proces (3 nm), dat eind 2024 nog steeds state of the art zal zijn.
