Dell Precision 5560 werkstation review: De Quadro RTX A2000 boost

De Dell Precision 5560 is een interne opfrissing van de Precision 5550 van vorig jaar. Beide modellen zijn gebaseerd op de nieuwe XPS 15 9500/9510 chassis en dus hebben alle modellen vergelijkbare 16:10 panelen en andere fysieke kenmerken. Als zodanig raden wij aan onze reviews te bekijken van de Precision 5550, XPS 15 9500, of XPS 15 9510 aangezien veel van onze opmerkingen hier nog steeds van toepassing zijn op de Precision 5560

In vergelijking met de Precision 5550, wordt de Precision 5560 geleverd met 11e gen Tiger Lake-H CPU's en Nvidia Ampere GPU's ter vervanging van de oudere 10e gen Comet Lake-H CPU's en Turing GPU's, respectievelijk. SKU's variëren van de basis Core i5-11500H met Quadro T1200 graphics, 1200p beeldscherm, en 8 GB RAM voor $2000 USD tot de i9-11950H of Xeon W-11955M vPro CPU met Quadro RTX A2000 graphics, 2400p touchscreen, en 64 GB ECC RAM voor meer dan $4000 USD. Koffer - Professionele XPS

Het chassis en de afmetingen zijn identiek aan die van de XPS 15 9500 of 9510 met 18 x 344,72 x 230,14 mm. De officiële Dell productpagina beweert echter dat de Precision 5560 veel dunner is met 11,64 mm vanaf het dikste punt, wat absoluut niet waar is. Wij vermoeden dat Dell de manier waarop ze dikte meten heeft veranderd, wat zeer misleidend kan zijn voor consumenten. We zagen een vergelijkbaar dikteverschil tussen de identieke XPS 13 7390 2-in-1 en XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 ook.

Zoals gebruikelijk is de buitenste deksel van magnesiumlegering iets donkerder grijs in vergelijking met de typische XPS 15 om de Precision 55x0 serie visueel te helpen onderscheiden van de XPS 15 serie.

Connectiviteit - Thunderbolt 4 klaar voor gebruik

De poortopties omvatten alleen USB-C, dus wees voorbereid op adapters overal waar je gaat. Alle drie de USB-C-poorten ondersteunen zowel DisplayPort als Power Delivery, maar alleen de linker twee USB-C-poorten ondersteunen Thunderbolt-apparaten. Deze twee poorten in het bijzonder zijn geüpgraded van Thunderbolt 3 op de Precision 5550 naar Thunderbolt 4 op de Precision 5560.

Accessoires en garantie

In de doos zit een handige USB-C naar full-size USB-A en HDMI-adapter, net als bij de XPS 15.

Teleurstellend is dat de basisgarantie slechts één jaar is in plaats van twee of drie jaar op veel andere mobiele werkstations. Gebruikers zouden moeten upgraden naar de high-end Precision 7000-serie voor de langere basisgarantie.

Dell blijft hetzelfde Sharp LQ156R1 IPS touchscreen gebruiken op al zijn 16:10 XPS 15 en Precision 5550/5560 4K SKU's, wat prima is omdat dit nog steeds een high-end paneel is met volledige AdobeRGB dekking, hoge >1000:1 contrast ratio, en heldere ~500 nit achtergrondverlichting. De kijkervaring is dus consistent tussen de nieuwste XPS 15 en Precision 55x0 modellen. Een minder mat 1200p non-touch display is beschikbaar op sommige SKU's net als op de XPS 15, maar OLED is merkwaardig genoeg weggelaten op de Precision 5560

De trage zwart-wit en grijs-grijs reactietijden blijven het grootste nadeel, wat betekent dat ghosting zeer goed merkbaar is, vooral in vergelijking met OLED. Dit zal geen groot probleem zijn voor de meeste CAD-achtige toepassingen.

De kleuren hadden beter gekalibreerd kunnen zijn, want de gemiddelde deltaE-waarden voor grijswaarden en kleuren zijn slechts behoorlijk met respectievelijk 3,6 en 4,73. We zijn in staat om beide waarden terug te brengen tot minder dan één na kalibratie met onze X-Rite colorimeter.

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 52 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17047 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

De zichtbaarheid buitenshuis is beter dan op de Razer Blade 15 Studio of Asus ProArt dankzij de fellere achtergrondverlichting op onze Precision 5560. Echter, enige schittering zal altijd aanwezig zijn op de glanzende overlay. Gebruikers kunnen in plaats daarvan de matte 1200p beeldschermoptie overwegen om de schittering te verminderen.

Prestaties - 45 W TGP Quadro RTX grafische

Dell biedt zowel non-vPro (i5-11500H, i7-11800H) en vPro (i7-11850H, i9-11950H, Xeon W-11955M) Tiger Lake-H opties naast Nvidia Quadro GPU's (NVIDIA T1200, RTX A2000) voor bijna alle configuraties. Deze GPU's, vPro CPU's, en bijbehorende optionele ECC RAM zijn wat de Precision 5560 onderscheidt van de consument-niveau XPS 15-serie

De Quadro RTX A2000 GPU op onze testeenheid ondersteunt Resizable Bar en Dynamic Boost 2.0, maar geen ondersteuning voor Advanced Optimus of WhisperMode 2.0. Met slechts 45 W TGP is dit technisch gezien een Max-Q GPU, ook al staat Max-Q niet in de naam. De oudere Quadro T2000 Max-Q in de Precision 5550 werd geschat op 40 W TGP in vergelijking

Ons toestel werd ingesteld op de Ultra Performance modus via de Dell Power Manager software alvorens onze benchmarks hieronder uit te voeren voor de hoogst mogelijke scores.

Processor

De algehele multi-thread prestaties zijn ongeveer 15 procent langzamer dan die van de Core i7-11800H, wat de prijs is die moet worden betaald voor geïntegreerde vPro-ondersteuning. Een upgrade naar de Core i9-11950H zal de multi-thread prestaties naar verwachting met wel 20 procent verbeteren, gebaseerd op onze ervaring met de HP ZBook Studio 15 G8. Single-thread prestaties blijven echter vrijwel identiek

De duurzaamheid van de prestaties is uitstekend, zoals blijkt uit de consistente CineBench R15 xT resultaten hieronder.

Opslagapparaten

Dell heeft ons bevestigd dat beide M.2 opslagsleuven elk PCIe4 x4 SSD's ondersteunen, vergeleken met alleen PCIe3 op de Precision 5550. Zelfs de Alienware x17 R1 kan slechts één PCIe4 x4 SSD ondersteunen, ondanks dat het twee M.2 SSD slots heeft. Onze testeenheid wordt geleverd met een Samsung PM9A1 wat een van de snelste PCIe4 SSD's op consumentenniveau is die momenteel verkrijgbaar zijn en het is dan ook een enorme prestatie-upgrade ten opzichte van de SK Hynix PC601A op het model van vorig jaar.

GPU prestatie

De ruwe grafische prestaties van de Quadro RTX A2000 zit comfortabel tussen de consumenten GeForce GTX 1650 Ti en GTX 1660 Ti of ongeveer 10 procent langzamer dan de oudere Quadro RTX 3000 Max-Q. De prestatieverbetering is met 40 tot 50 procent significanter in vergelijking met de Quadro T2000 Max-Q in de Precision 5550.Upgraden naar een Quadro RTX A3000, die niet beschikbaar is op de Precision 5560 serie, kan een prestatie boost van 30 tot 40 procent opleveren ten opzichte van onze Quadro RTX A2000

Interessant is dat de SpecViewPerf-scores dichter bij elkaar liggen dan verwacht tussen onze RTX A2000 en de laatste generatie Quadro RTX 3000 Max-Q, ondanks de oudere Turing GPU die meer energie vraagt, wat duidt op een verbeterde optimalisatie in werkstation-achtige belastingen voor onze Ampere GPU

Als u gaat gamen, verwacht dan dat de prestaties zo'n 20 tot 30 procent langzamer zullen zijn dan die van de GTX 1660 Ti, aangezien Quadro GPU's niet zijn geoptimaliseerd voor games. Strange Brigade, bijvoorbeeld, crashte soms een of twee minuten na het uitvoeren van de benchmark.
