Intel Core i5-1140G7
De Intel Core i5-1140G7 is een energiezuinige quad-core SoC voor laptops en Ultrabooks, gebaseerd op de Tiger Lake-U-generatie (UP4) die begin 2021 werd geïntroduceerd. Hij integreert vier Willow Cove-processorkernen (8 threads dankzij Hyper-Threading). De gegarandeerde basiskloksnelheid is afhankelijk van de TDP-instelling en kan variëren van 0,8 (7 W TDP) tot 1,8 GHz (15 W TDP). De turbokloksnelheid is gespecificeerd op 4,2 GHz voor één kern, alle kernen kunnen tot 3,5 GHz bereiken.
Een andere noviteit is de geïntegreerde Xe grafische kaart met 80EU's op basis van de geheel nieuwe Gen 12 architectuur. Deze biedt aanzienlijk hogere prestaties in vergelijking met de oudere Iris Plus G7 (Ice Lake). In de i5-1140G7 gebruikt hij 80 van de 96EU's en klokt tussen 400 - 1100 MHz. De GPU en CPU kunnen samen gebruik maken van de 8 MB L3 cache.
Verder voegen Tiger Lake SoC's PCIe 4-ondersteuning (vier lanes), AI-hardwareversnelling, en de gedeeltelijke integratie van Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 en Wi-Fi 6 in de chip toe. De i5-1140G7 ondersteunt ook de beheerfunctie vPro.
De chip wordt geproduceerd in het verbeterde 10nm+ proces (SuperFin genaamd) bij Intel dat vergelijkbaar zou moeten zijn met het 7nm proces bij TSMC (bijv. Ryzen 4000-serie).
Het werkbereik van de UP4-serie wordt gespecificeerd op 7 tot 15 Watt. De processor is daarom zeer geschikt voor zeer dunne en lichte laptops, convertibles of tablets.
