AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U
De AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U is een processor voor dunne en lichte laptops op basis van de Zen-generatie. De R7 5850U integreert alle acht kernen op basis van de Zen 3 microarchitectuur en is de snelste U-serie processor bij de lancering. Ze zijn geklokt op 1,9 (gegarandeerde basisklok) tot 4,4 GHz (Turbo) en ondersteunen SMT / Hyperthreading (16 threads). De chip wordt vervaardigd in het moderne 7 nm-proces bij TSMC.
De PRO CPU's bieden extra beheer- en beveiligingsfuncties. De 5850U is verder identiek aan de Ryzen 7 5800U.
De nieuwe Zen 3 microarchitectuur biedt een aanzienlijk hogere IPC (instructies per klok) vergeleken met Zen 2. Voor desktop processoren claimt AMD gemiddeld 19 procent en in toepassingen reviews toonde ongeveer 12% winst bij dezelfde kloksnelheid.
Met de verhoogde kloksnelheid en IPC verbeteringen dankzij Zen 3, zou de Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U duidelijk sneller moeten zijn dan de 200 MHz lager geklokte Ryzen 7 4800U.
Naast de acht CPU cores integreert de APU ook een Radeon RX Vega 8 geïntegreerde grafische kaart met 8 CU's en tot 2000 MHz (of 1900 MHz volgens het Geekbench lek). De dual channel geheugencontroller ondersteunt DDR4-3200 en energiezuinig LPDDR4-4266 RAM. Verder is er 16 MB level 3 cache (omhoog van 8 MB bij de 4800U) op de chip te vinden.
Het TDP van de APU is gespecificeerd op 15 Watt (standaard) en kan worden geconfigureerd van 10 tot 25 Watt door de laptopverkoper (de meeste chips zijn hoger geconfigureerd dan 15 Watt). Dat betekent dat de chip bedoeld is voor dunne en lichte laptops (maar wel met ventilatoren).
