AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS
De AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS is een processor voor grote (gaming) laptops gebaseerd op de Rembrandt generatie. De R9 6900HS integreert alle acht kernen op basis van de Zen 3+ microarchitectuur. Ze zijn geklokt op 3,3 (gegarandeerde basisklok) tot 4,9 GHz (Turbo) en ondersteunen SMT / Hyperthreading (16 threads). De chip wordt gefabriceerd op het moderne 6 nm TSMC-proces. De HS-variant biedt een 10 W lagere TDP en daardoor lagere aanhoudende prestaties dan de HX-versie.
De nieuwe Zen 3+ is een opfrissing van de Zen 3 architectuur en zou niet veel veranderingen moeten bieden. De chip zelf biedt echter veel nieuwe mogelijkheden, zoals ondersteuning voor USB 4 (40 Gbps), PCI-E Gen 4, DDR5-4800MT/s of LPDDR5-6400MT/s, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth LE 5.2, DisplayPort 2, en AV1-decodering.
De prestaties van de processor zouden iets hoger moeten zijn dan die van de oude Ryzen 9 5980HS dankzij de hogere boost kloksnelheid (+100 MHz). De nieuwe Alder Lake mobiele CPU's met 14 cores (zoals de Core i9-12900HK) zouden echter hogere multi-core prestaties moeten bieden. Vergeleken met het snelste HS-model, de Ryzen 9 6980HS, biedt de 6900HS een 100 MHz lagere boostklok en dus iets lagere prestaties. De vergelijkbare R9 6900HX (45 W, ondersteuning voor overklokken) heeft een hoger TDP en zou daarom sneller moeten zijn bij langdurige multi-threaded belastingen.
Een grote nieuwigheid is de geïntegreerde GPU Radeon 680M, die nu is gebaseerd op de RDNA2-architectuur en 12 CU's biedt op maximaal 2,4 GHz. Het zou de snelste iGPU van allemaal moeten zijn op het moment van aankondiging.
De TDP van de APU wordt gespecificeerd op 35 Watt en is daarom beter geschikt voor dunne en lichte laptops. De energie-efficiëntie zou zeer goed moeten zijn, dankzij het verbeterde 6 nm proces en extra energiebesparende functies in de 6000 serie.
