Intel i9-11980HK

De Intel Core i9-11980HK is een high-end octa-core SoC voor gaminglaptops en mobiele werkstations. Hij is gebaseerd op de Tiger Lake H45-generatie en werd medio 2021 aangekondigd. Hij integreert acht Willow Cove processorkernen (16 threads dankzij HyperThreading). De basiskloksnelheid hangt af van de TDP-instelling en ligt bij 45 Watt op 2,6 GHz. De single core boost snelheid kan oplopen tot 5 GHz (ITBM 3.0, ook twee cores), alle cores kunnen oplopen tot 4,5 GHz. De CPU biedt 24 MB level 3 cache en ondersteunt DDR4-3200 geheugen. Dankzij de vrije multiplicator kan de CPU ook gemakkelijk worden overgeklokt (maar heeft misschien niet veel speling).

Dankzij de nieuwe Tiger Lake architectuur zou de i9-11980HK aanzienlijk sneller moeten zijn dan de oude Intel Core i9-10980HK (Comet Lake-H, 2,4 - 5,3 GHz, 16 MB L3) in single en multi threaded prestaties en vergelijkbaar met de Ryzen 9 5980HX (Zen 3, 3,3 - 4,8 GHz, 16 MB L3). Daarom zou de i9 een van de snelste laptop CPU's in 2021 moeten zijn en goed geschikt voor zelfs zeer veeleisende taken.

De SoC beschikt ook over de verbeterde Xe grafische kaart genaamd UHD Graphics met alle 32 EU's actief.

Verder voegen Tiger Lake SoC's PCIe 4-ondersteuning toe (20 lanes in de H45-serie), AI-hardwareversnelling, en de gedeeltelijke integratie van Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 en Wi-Fi 6E in de chip.

Professionele beheerfuncties zoals Intel vPro, SIPP of TXT worden niet ondersteund door de 11980HK, in tegenstelling tot de vergelijkbare i9-11950H en Xeon W-11955M (met ECC-ondersteuning).

De chip wordt geproduceerd op het verbeterde 10nm-proces (genaamd 10nm SuperFin) bij Intel, dat vergelijkbaar zou moeten zijn met het 7nm-proces bij TSMC (bijv. Ryzen 4000-serie). De standaard TDP (PL1) wordt geschat op 45 W, bij 65 Watt neemt de basiskloksnelheid toe tot 3,3 GHz (cTDP omhoog). De short burst PL2 is gespecificeerd op 107 Watt voor het basisprofiel en 135 Watt voor het prestatieprofiel.
