Intel i3-1000NG4

De Intel Core i3-1000NG4 is een energiezuinige dual-core SoC voor laptops en Ultrabooks gebaseerd op de Ice -Lake-U-generatie die werd aangekondigd in mei 2019 (Computex). De SoC integreert twee Sunnycove-processor-cores (4 threads dankzij HyperThreading) geklokt aan 1,1 (basis) - 3,2 GHz (single- en dual-core Turbo). Volgens Intel behalen de Sunnycove-cores 18% meer IPC's (instructies per klok) en daarom zouden de CPU-prestaties vergelijkbaar moeten zijn met die van de hoger geklokte Amber-Lake-Y-CPU's zoals de Core i5-8200Y (1,3 - 3,9 GHz).

In vergelijking met met de normale Core i3-1000G4 is de i3-1000NG4 compacter (22 x 16,5 t.o.v. 26,5 x 18,5 mm).

De grootste verbetering voor Ice-Lake is de geïntegreerde Gen 11 grafische kaart genaamd Iris Plus Graphics. De Core i7-1030G4 integreert de kleinere G4-variant met 48 van de 64 CU's geklokt aan 300 - 900 MHz. In de Y-serie zijn de gaming-prestaties echter weer sterk afhankelijk van de koeloplossing en kunnen ze na verloop van tijd duidelijk verslechteren (in vergelijking met de Core i5-1035G4 met bijvoorbeeld 15-25 Watt). De snellere grafische kaart is ook het belangrijkste verschil met de vergelijkbaar genaamde Core i3-1000G1.

Andere verbeteringen voor Ice Lake zijn de AI-hardwareversnelling en de gedeeltelijke integratie van Thunderbolt en Wifi 6 in de chip. De geïntegreerde DDR4-geheugencontroller ondersteunt modules tot 3200 MHz (en LPDDDR4 3733).

De Core i3-1000NG4 wordt geproduceerd in het nieuwe 10nm-proces bij Intel, dat vergelijkbare prestaties zou moeten bieden als het 7nm-proces bij TSMC. Het TDP is ingesteld op 15 Watt en daarom kan de CPU worden gebruikt in dunne en lichte laptops (maar meestal met een ventilator). Intel biedt een configureerbaar TDP van 13 - 25 Watt, wat resulteert in prestatieverschillen. Met een configuratie van 13 Watt kan de CPU bijvoorbeeld maar tot 900 MHz klokken volgens ark.intel.com.
