Intel Core m7-6Y75
De Intel Core m7-6Y75 is een erg energie-efficiënte dual-core-SoC voor notebooks gebaseerd op de Skylake-architectuur en werd gelanceerd in september 2015. Dankzij zijn extreem lage TDP kan de CPU toegepast worden in passief gekoelde tablets en 2-in-1-notebooks. Naast de twee CPU-cores met Hyper-Threading geklokt aan 1.2 - 3.1 GHz (2 cores: max. 2.9 GHz), integreert de chip ook een HD Graphics 515 GPU en een dual-channel DDR4-2133/DDR3L-1600 geheugencontroller. De CPU is gefabriceerd via een 14-nm-proces met FinFET-transistors.
Skylake vervangt zowel Haswell als Broadwell en brengt dezelfde microarchitectuur naar elke TDP-klasse van 4.5 tot 45 Watt. De uitgebreide verbeteringen van Skylake zijn onder meer de vergrote out-of-order-buffers, geoptimaliseerde prefetching en aftakkingsvoorspelling en bijkomende prestatiewinsten door Hyper-Threading. Al bij al werd de performance in verhouding tot de kloksnelheid met slechts 5 tot 10 procent verbeterd ten opzichte van Haswell en met minder dan 5 procent in vergelijking met Broadwell, wat redelijk bescheiden is voor een nieuwe architectuur ('Tock').
De eigenlijke prestaties van de Core m7-6Y75 hangt sterk af van de koelcapaciteit en de TDP-configuratie van het toestel in kwestie. Terwijl de CPU vergelijkbaar kan zijn met een Core i5-6300U (Skylake, 15 Watt) in korte benchmarks, lopen zijn prestaties achter op een Core i3-6100U onder aanhoudende belasting. Al bij al biedt de chip voldoende rekenkracht voor office- en multimedia-doeleinden evenals voor iets meer veeleisende applicaties.
De geïntegreerde grafische kaart, HD Graphics 515 genaamd, vertegenwoordigt de 'GT2'-versie van de Skylake-GPU (Intel Gen. 9). De 24 Execution Units, ook EU's genoemd, zijn geklokt aan 300 - 1000 (beperkt door de TDP-reserve) en bieden prestaties van ongeveer hetzelfde niveau als de oudere HD Graphics 4400 (Haswell, 15 Watt). Met een TDP van 4.5 Watt (inclusief CPU, GPU en geheugencontroller) is de CPU geschikt voor passief gekoelde notebooks en tablets. Het TDP kan indien gewenst verlaagd worden tot 3.5 Watt (cTDP up) of verhoogd tot 7 Watt (cTDP up), wat zowel de warmteontwikkeling als de prestaties vermindert.
