AMD FX-7500
De AMD FX-7500 is een energie-efficiënte ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) quad-core processor gebaseerd op de Kaveri-architectuur. De chip werd in juni 2014 voorgesteld voor notebooks en wordt gefabriceerd door GlobalFoundries aan de hand van een 28 nm SHP-proces. Naast twee CPU-modules voor een totaal van vier integer cores geklokt aan 2.1 - 3.3 GHz, integreert de AMD-chip ook een Radeon R7 GPU geklokt aan maximaal 553 MHz met 384 GCN shaders en een dual-channel DDR3-1600 geheugencontroller.
Kaveri is de opvolger van de Richland-architectuur uit 2013 (bv. A10-5750M). De herziene CPU cores, met codenaam Steamroller, representeren de derde generatie van et module-gebaseerde Bulldozer-design. Een aantal grote veranderingen zijn ondermeer gemodificeerde decoders (nu één per integer core), geoptimaliseerde aftakkingsvoorspelling en het vergrote L1 I-cache van 64 KB tot 96 KB per module. Deze herzieningen verhogen de performance per MHz kloksnelheid aanzienlijk ten opzichte van een vergelijkbaar geklokte Richland APU. Afgaande op de kloksnelheden zou de FX-7500 ongeveer hetzelfde CPU-prestatieniveau moeten bieden als de Haswell-gebaseerde Intel Core i3-4100U. Over het algemeen zal de FX-7500 toereikend zijn voor alledaags taken (Office, Internet-browsen, multimedia) evenals licht multitasken.
De Radeon R7 (Kaveri) GPU van de FX-7500beschikt over een core-kloksnelheid van maximaal 553 MHz en 384 shader units. Aangezien de GPU gebaseerd is op de GCN 1.1-architectuur van AMD, worden zowel DirectX 11.2 "Tier 2" en Mantle ondersteund. Bovendien kan de GPU gebruikt worden voor algemene berekeningen in diverse applicaties zoals Adobe Photoshop via de OpenCL API.
Op het vlak van 3D-prestaties zou de GPU ongeveer even snel moeten zijn als een dedicated GeForce GT 720M waardoor veel huidige games speelbaar zijn met lage of gemiddelde instellingen in WXGA-resolutie.
Het stroomverbruik van de hele APU is afgestemd op 19 Watt, wat iets hoger is dan dat van de Haswell ULV-CPU's van Intel (15 Watt, inclusief chipset). Niettemin is de FX-7500 geschikt voor notebooks van het 13-inch-formaat of groter.
