Intel Celeron N3450
De Intel Celeron N3450 is een quad-core-SoC, voorgesteld in het midden van 2016, dat vooral bestemd is voor goedkope notebooks. De CPU is geklokt aan 1.1 - 2.2 GHz (Boost) en is gebaseerd op het Apollo Lake-platform. Net als de voorganger Braswell is de chip gefabriceerd in een 14nm-proces (P1273) met FinFET's. Naas vier CPU-cores integreert de chip ook een DirectX 12-capabele GPU en een DDR3L/LPDDR3/LPDDR4-geheugencontroller (dual-channel, tot en met 1866/2400 MHz).
Voor het eerst in jaren heeft Intel de CPU-architectuur van de Atom-serie volledig herwerkt. De fabrikant adverteert met prestatieverhogingen van ongeveer 30%, maar maakt geen details bekend over de individuele veranderingen. De nieuwe Goldmont-architectuur zou qua per-MHz-performance ongeveer even goed presteren als AMD's Beema/Carrizo-L-APU's, maar blijft ver achter de duurdere Core-CPU's (zoals Skylake en Kaby Lake).
De CPU-prestaties van de Pentium N3450 met 4 CPU-cores geklokt aan 1.1 - 2.2 GHz hangen sterk af van de toegepaste koeling. Als de chip zijn Boost-kloksnelheid kan aanhouden, zou de N3450 ongeveer 15 - 20% sneller moeten zijn dan de oude N3710 (Braswell) en vergelijkbaar met een AMD A4-7210. Dit betekent dat de processor perfect geschikt is voor alledaagse taken (office, browsen) evenals gematigde multi-tasking.
De HD Graphics 500 (Apollo Lake) is gebaseerd op Intel's Gen9-architectuur, met ondersteuning voor DirectX 12, en wordt ook gebruikt voor Kaby Lake/Skylake (zoals HD Graphics 520). De prestaties zouden met 12 EU's geklokt aan 700 MHz gelijkaardig moeten zijn aan die van de oudere HD Graphics (Braswell). Dit betekent dat alleen oudere of eenvoudigere titels als Counter Strike: GO of Diablo 3 vlot zullen lopen.
De chip bevat een geavanceerde video-engine met hardware-ondersteuning voor het afspelen van VP9- en H.265-materiaal (8-bit kleurdiepte).
Net als voor de voorganger bepaalt Intel een TDP van 6 Watt (SDP 4 Watt - Scenario Design Power). De chip kan daarom in theorie passief gekoeld worden, al is de combinatie met ventilatoren eveneens mogelijk.
