Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9714 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

Vanwege de stabiele standaard en het te bevestigen toetsenbord kan de Spectre x2 tot op zekere hoogte als laptop gebruikt worden. De USB Type C poorten laden het apparaat op en bieden een verbinding met bestaande Type A apparaten met behulp van een hub of adapter (meegeleverd). De grote camera aan de achterkant maakt zeer goede foto's en video's. Dit hebben we lang niet meegemaakt met een Windows tablet. Daarnaast maakt de RealSense camera 3D scannen mogelijk - in de toekomst. Het kan oneffenheden in oppervlaktes meten.

De Spectre x2 heeft een aantal overkombare nadelen. Bepaalde gebruikers zullen een kaartlezer missen voor standaard SD kaarten. Daarnaast schiet de standaard uit positie wanneer de tablet enigszins gebogen wordt. De looptijden zijn niet verschrikkelijk, maar slechts zes uur tijdens Wi-Fi gebruik is gezien de Core M processor geen goede score.

De rekenkracht heeft ons teleurgesteld. De potentiele koper kan net zo goed kiezen voor de m3-6Y30 versie (2x 900 MHz), die waarschijnlijk ook nog eens zuiniger is met energie. De prijs is hetzelfde: de 'zwakkere' versie wordt geleverd met LTE modem. Wat betreft prestaties zouden gebruikers moeten blijven bij de Microsoft Surface 4 met Core i5/i7. Die modellen bevatten ook een snellere NVMe SSD.

In het geval dat meer rekenkracht vereist is, kan ook gekozen worden voor de grotere versie, namelijk de Spectre x360 13 met een i5-6200U (score van 84%). Microsoft's Surface Book, Acer's Aspire R7-371T-52EL, Lenovo's ThinkPad Yoga en Microsoft's Surface Pro (i5/i7) vallen in dezelfde prestatieklasse. Hoewel veeleisende kopers zich op deze apparaten moeten focussen, moet de Spectre x2 niet uit het oog verloren worden. Voor alledaags gebruik voldoet het apparaat zeker. De applicatieprestaties zijn ook niet slecht, ondanks de langzamere M7.
