AMD Athlon 300U

De AMD Athlon 300U is een mobiele dual core SoC die in januari 2019 werd aangekondigd. Het combineert twee Zen kernen (met SMT / Hyperthreading dus lopende 4 threads) geklokt op 2.4 - 3.3 GHz met een Radeon RX Vega 3 grafische kaart met 3 CU's (192 Shaders) geklokt op maximaal 1000 MHz. Gespecificeerd op 15 Watt TDP, is de SoC bedoeld voor dunne mid-range laptops. Het is vergelijkbaar met de AMD Ryzen 3 3200U (2,6 - 3,5 GHz).

Vergeleken met de Picasso APU's van de Ryzen 3000-serie is de Athlon 300U nog steeds gebaseerd op de eerste generatie van de 2000-serie. Alleen de PRO-variant is gebaseerd op de nieuwe Zen+ microarchitectuur die moet leiden tot een 3% IPS (performance per clock) verbetering.

De geïntegreerde tweekanaals geheugencontroller ondersteunt tot DDR4-2400 geheugen. Aangezien de eigenschappen van de Picasso APU's hetzelfde zijn als die van de Raven Ridge voorgangers, verwijzen we naar ons Raven Ridge lanceerartikel.

In tegenstelling tot de snellere quad-core Picasso APU's ondersteunt de Athlon 300U slechts 3 in plaats van 4 beeldschermen in totaal.

De Athlon 300 zou iets langzamer moeten zijn dan de Ryzen 3 2200U (2,5 - 3,4 GHz Dual Core met SMT).
