Intel Core i5-1030NG7
De Intel Core i5-1030NG7 is een energiezuinige quad-core SoC voor laptops en Ultrabooks gebaseerd op de Ice -Lake-Y-generatie die werd aangekondigd in mei 2019 (Computex). De SoC integreert vier Sunnycove-processor-cores (8 threads dankzij HyperThreading) geklokt aan 1,1 (basis) - 3,8 (single core Turbo) GHz. Alle vier cores kunnen met Turbo Boost klokken tot 3,2 GHz. Volgens Intel halen de Sunnycove-cores 18% meer IPC's (instructies per klok).
In vergelijking met de normale Core i5-1030G7 is de i5-1030NG7 compacter (22 x 16,5 t.o.v. 26,5 x 18,5 mm), is de basiskloksnelheid hoger (1100 t.o.v. 800 MHz) en het TDP 1 Watt hoger.
In combinatie met de twee extra cores zouden de dual-core-processors van de vorige Y-serie (Amber Lake-Y) consistent trager moeten presteren. Prestaties bij kortstondige belasting zouden uitstekend moeten zijn, terwijl die bij langdurige belasting sterk afhangen van de TDP-instellingen en de koeloplossing in de laptop / tablet.
De grootste verbetering voor Ice-Lake is de geïntegreerde Gen 11 grafische kaart genaamd Iris Plus Graphics. De Core i5-1030NG7 integreert de grootste G7-variant met 64 CU's geklokt aan 300-1050 MHz. De Iris Plus G7 zou twee keer zo snel zijn als zijn voorgangers en de beste AMD Vega 10 GPU in de huidige Ryzen-APU's. In de Y-serie zijn de gaming-prestaties dan weer sterk afhankelijk van de koeloplossing en kunnen ze na verloop van tijd merkbaar verslechteren (in vergelijking met de Core i7-1065G7 (15-25 Watt)).
Andere verbeteringen voor Ice Lake zijn de AI-hardwareversnelling en de gedeeltelijke integratie van Thunderbolt en Wifi 6 in de chip. De geïntegreerde DDR4-geheugencontroller ondersteunt modules tot 3200 MHz (en LPDDDR4 3733).
De Core i5-1030NG7 wordt geproduceerd in het nieuwe 10nm-proces bij Intel (2e generatie) dat vergelijkbare prestaties zou moeten bieden als het 7nm-proces bij TSMC. Het TDP is ingesteld op 10 Watt en daarom kan de CPU worden gebruikt in dunne en lichte laptops. Intel biedt een configureerbaar TDP van maximaal Watt, wat resulteert in aanzienlijke prestatieverschillen (als gevolg van langere perioden van Turbo Boost).
