De Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 is een mid-range desktop grafische kaart. Hij is gebaseerd op de GA106 Ampere-chip en biedt 8 GB GDDR6 grafisch geheugen met een 128 bit geheugenbus. Hij biedt 2.560 kernen en ondersteunt PCIe 4.0.
De prestaties zijn vergelijkbaar met de oudere GeForce RTX 2060 en daarom het meest geschikt voor 1080p gaming van moderne en veeleisende games in hoge instellingen.
De GA106 chip biedt 3.840 FP32 ALU's waarvan de helft ook INT32 instructies kan uitvoeren (dus 1.920 INT32 ALU's). Met Turing kunnen alle shaders nog FP32 of INT32 instructies uitvoeren. Ook de raytracing en tensor cores op de chip zijn volgens Nvidia verbeterd. De Ampere-chips bevatten ook een verbeterde 5e generatie video-encoder (NVENC voor H.264 en H.265) en een 7e generatie decoder (voor diverse formaten nu inclusief AV1).
De GA106 chip wordt door Samsung gemaakt in 8nm (8N), wat de 7nm node bij TSMC (o.a. gebruikt door AMD en ook voor de professionele GA100 Ampere chip) niet helemaal kan bijbenen. De TDP van de RTX 3050 is gespecificeerd op 130 Watt en daarmee beter dan de vorige RTX 2060 (160 Watt).
