Intel P8400

De Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 is een dual core processor voor laptops. Hij heeft een kloksnelheid van 2,26 GHz en een gedeelde level 2 cache van 3 MB. Door de kleinere cache (Core 2 Duo T-modellen hebben meestal 6 MB cache op deze kloksnelheid) is de TDP slechts 25 Watt (in plaats van de 35 Watt voor de T-modellen).

De prestaties van de P8400 liggen ongeveer gelijk met de AMD Turion II Ultra tussen de 2,4 en 2?6 GHz. Moderne veeleisende games zoals Supreme Commander kunnen beperkt worden door de CPU rekenkracht. High-end gamers kiezen beter voor een hoger geklokte Core 2 Duo (of Core i5 / i7).

De P8400 gebruikt een Penryn (Montevina Update) core met 2 integer units, 1 floating point unit, 1 load unit en 1 core store unit heeft in een 14-stadia lange pipeline. Door de Wide Dynamic Execution Technology kan de Core tot vier instructies gelijktijdig uitvoeren.

De geïntegreerde Enhanced Speedstep kan de core dynamisch terugklokken tot 800MHz om stroom te besparen (onbelast).

De Core 2 Duo P8600 kan gebruikt worden in een Socket P met 479 pinnen: Socket P / Micro Flip-Chip Grid Array (Micro-FCPGA) heeft een 479-pins Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) socket (mPGA479M socket) nodig of een of Micro Flip-Chip Ball Grid Array (Micro-FCBGA) voor surface mount (479-ball).
