Intel Core i5-470UM

De Intel Core i5-470UM is een ultra Low Voltage dual-core processor voor kleine en lichte laptops. Hij is geklokt op 1,3 - 1,8 GHz (met Turbo Boost ingeschakeld). Elke core is gebaseerd op de Nehalem (Westmere) micro-architectuur. Hyperthreading zorgt er voor dat de Dual Core CPU 4 threads gelijktijdig kan verwerken (een efficiënter gebruik van de pipeline). AES, VT-d en Trusted Exectuion zijn gedeactiveerd op de 470UM, vergeleken met de i7 UM CPU's.

De snellere i5-560UM en de i7-660UM zijn ook geklokt op 1,3 GHz maar hebben een hogere TurboBoost kloksnelheid.

Een functie van de Core i5-470UM is de geïntegreerde videokaart genaamd GMA HD en geheugen controller. Beide zitten op een afzonderlijke chip die nog op het 45nm procedé gemaakt is, terwijl de CPU al met het nieuwe 32nm procedé gemaakt wordt.

Door de geïntegreerde geheugen controller, HyperThreading en Turbo Boost, is de Core i5-470UM sneller dan een vergelijkbaar geklokte Core 2 Duo (1,3 GHz) in alle door ons gekende toepassingen en benchmarks. De Turbo Boost functie schakelt mogelijk niet vaak in (soms is deze zelfs niet geactiveerd in de BIOS) en daardoor is de maximum kloksnelheid van 1,8 GHz mogelijk niet echt belangrijk.

De geïntegreerde Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD (GMA HD) videokaart is tussen de 166-500 MHz (Turbo Boost) geklokt en is daarmee duidelijk lager geklokt dan de niet-low voltage versies. De prestaties liggen normaal nog wel een stuk hoger dan de oude GMA 4500MHD.

Het stroomverbruik van 18 Watt TDp (max) telt voor het geheel en is daarmee duidelijk beter dan de 17 Watt TDP van de Core 2 Duo SL-reeks (enkel CPU).
