Intel P8700

De Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 is een mid-range dual core processor voor laptops. Hij heeft een kloksnelheid van 2,53 GHz en een gedeelde level 2 cache van 3MB. Door de kleinere cache (Core 2 Duo T-modellen hebben meestal 6 MB cache op deze kloksnelheid) is de TDP slechts 25 Watt (in plaats van 35 Watt voor de T-reeks). Technisch gezien is de P8700 een trager geklokte P8800 processor.

Door de relatief hoge kloksnelheid zullen de meeste games (uit 2009) niet beperkt worden door de CPU snelheid (in tegenstelling tot een middenklasse videokaart). High-end gamers kiezen echter beter voor een hoger geklokte dual core processor (in combinatie met een high end GPU).

De P8700 heeft een Penryn (Montevina Update) core die 2 integer units, 1 floating point unit, 1 load unit en 1 core store unit heeft in een 14-stadia lange pipeline. Door de Wide Dynamic Execution Technology kan de Core tot vier instructies gelijktijdig uitvoeren.

De geïntegreerde Enhanced Speedstep kan de core dynamisch terugklokken tot 1200MHz om stroom te besparen (onbelast).
