HiSilicon Kirin 970

De HiSilicon Kirin 970 is een ARM-gebaseerde high-end octa-core-SoC voor smartphones en tablets en werd voorgesteld samen met de Huawei Mate 10 op het einde van 2017. Naast 8 CPU-cores (4x Cortex-A73, 4x Cortex-A35) is de SoC ook uitgerust met een moderne Mali-G72 MP12-GPU, een dual-channel LPDDR4-geheugencontroller en een LTE-modem (4x4 MIMO, 5-band-aggregatie, QAM-256, max. 1.2 Gbit/s).

De perfomante cluster is geklokt aan max. 2.4 GHz en de vier energiezuinige A53-cores aan max. 1.8 GHz. De prestaties zouden volgens Huawei met ongeveer 20 procent verhoogd zijn, terwijl het energieverbruik met 20 procent verlaagd zou zijn.

HiSilicon heeft op de chip een discrete Neural Processing Unit (NPU) geïntegreerd om taken gerelateerd aan machine learning uiterst efficient af te handelen, in vergelijking met de CPU-cores.
