Kort testrapport Huawei Mate 10 Pro Smartphone

Wauw, met een paar kleine nadelen. Met de Pro versie van de Mate 10-serie testen we momenteel de sterkste Huawei smartphone. Het opslagoplossing en camera zijn verbeterd en de Chinese smartphone heeft nu een OLED beeldscherm in een 2:1 formaat. De rekenkracht komt van de Kirin 970, een SoC die een aparte NPU heeft. Dat klinkt fantastisch, maar Huawei heeft op sommige plekken bezuinigd. Update: testen afgerond.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 247.5 Hz

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 247.5 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) .

De frequentie van 247.5 Hz is redelijk laag en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering kunnen dit dus waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen (gebruikmakend van de vermelde helderheid en lager).

Ter vergelijking: 55 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9257 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 247500) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde erg snelle responstijden in onze tests en zou zeer geschikt moeten zijn voor snelle games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 2 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (26.6 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

De Huawei Mate 10 Pro is een krachtige high-end smartphone, die zelfs relatief betaalbaar is in vergelijking met de concurrentie van dit jaar. En daar bovenop komen nog de fantastische prestaties, goede camera's en enorme batterij van 4000 mAh, al kan deze laatste niet echt aan de verwachtingen voldoen. We verwachten dat Huawei op dat gebied verbeteringen zal brengen, maar we twijfelen of het lukt om dit tot het beloofde niveau te brengen. Aan de andere kant levert Huawei uitstekend werk met de snellaadtechnologie, het opladen van de smartphone gebeurd in een ogenblik. 

Premium made in China: kleine nadelen, maar veel dat indruk maakt!

De hoge resolutie audio chip klinkt aantrekkelijk, maar helaas heeft Huawei bezuinigd op de koptelefoonaansluiting en biedt geluid met bekabelde apparatuur slechts aan via de USB-poort. Aan de andere kant is het positief dat de Chinese fabrikant besloten heeft om aptX HD te integreren in de Mate 10 Pro. Het ontbreken van het microSD-kaartslot is een ander minpunt, wat zelfs de relatief grote opslagcapaciteit van 128 GB niet helemaal goed maakt. We hadden ook graag een optie gezien om de telefoon draadloos op te laden, wat zeker op een bureau erg prettig geweest was.

We waren verrast door de hoge kwaliteit van het beeldscherm. Natuurlijk heeft Huawei in het verleden ook al fantastische panelen gebruikt, maar tot nu toe had de fabrikant niet veel ervaring met OLED panelen. Met name op de basisvlakken helderheid en kleurnauwkeurigheid, doet de Mate 10 Pro het zelfs beter dan concurrerende modellen van Samsung.

Hoewel de camera's ook erg goed zijn, halen deze niet het niveau van andere huidige vlaggenschepen. De prestaties van hybride zoom, prestaties bij slechte lichtomstandigheden en video-opnames zijn hier simpelweg niet goed genoeg. Een ieder die veel buiten de camera gebruikt zal veel plezier hebben van de Mate 10 Pro, die in die omstandigheden fantastische beelden kan maken. Over buiten gesproken: de GPS is erg nauwkeurig en dankzij de IP67 certificering hoef je ook niet bang te zijn voor slechtere weersomstandigheden.

Al met al levert Huawei met de Mate 10 Pro een uitstekende smartphone, die kan overtuigen met een extreem vloeiend werkend besturingssysteem en fantastisch gebruiksgemak. En natuurlijk is de smartphone met zijn prijs van minder dan € 800 relatief betaalbaar.
