HiSilicon Kirin 980

De HiSilicon Kirin 980 is een op ARM gebaseerde high-end octa-core SoC voor smartphones en tablets, die eind 2018 werd geïntroduceerd met de Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Het integreert acht CPU-kernen in drie clusters. Het prestatiecluster bevat twee Cortex-A76-kernen met maximaal 2,6 GHz, het gebalanceerde cluster bevat ook twee Cortex-A76-kernen maar met slechts maximaal 1,92 GHz en tot slot bevat het energiebesparende cluster vier kleine ARM Cortex-A53-kernen met maximaal 1,8 GHz. Verder integreert de SoC een moderne LTE radio met Cat 21/18 (max. 1400 Mbps download, 200 Mbps upload), 2x snellere dual ISP (versus 970), een LPDDR4X 2133 MHz geheugencontroller (34,1 GB/s versus 29,9 GB/s van de Kirin 970) en een 2160p30 H.265 video encoder (2160p60 decoding). De Kirin 980 wordt geproduceerd in het moderne 7nm-proces bij TSMC als de eerste Android SoC (na de Apple A12).
