HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G

De HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G is een op ARM gebaseerde high-end octa-core SoC voor smartphones en tablets, die eind 2019 werd geïntroduceerd met de Huawei Mate 30 Pro. Het integreert acht CPU-kernen in drie clusters. Het prestatiecluster bevat twee Cortex-A76 cores met tot 2,86 GHz, het gebalanceerde cluster bevat ook twee Cortex-A76 cores maar met slechts tot 2,36 GHz en tot slot bevat het energiebesparende cluster vier kleine ARM Cortex-A55 cores met tot 1,95 GHz. Verder integreert de SoC een neurale processor (2 + 1 kernen) voor AI-taken en een ARM Mali-G76 MP16 GPU clcoked tot 700 MHz. Vergeleken met de 4G versie integreert de 5G Kirin 990 een Balong 5G modem en is iets hoger geklokt (2 van de 3 clusters en de GPU).

De Kirin 990 5G wordt geproduceerd in het moderne 7nm (7FF+ met EUV) proces bij TSMC, de 4G versie wordt nog steeds geproduceerd in het iets oudere 7nm proces als de Kirin 980.
