However, as Huawei is banned from using technology from US companies, this smartphone comes without access to the Google Play Store and relies on Huawei’s own solution, the App Gallery. The lack of Google services and Play Store is the only downside of this otherwise great phone -- and surely the reason why the Honor P30 Pro+ is practically unavailable in western markets.

I thought a lot more Android apps would have trouble working, and that I would be upset for not having a Play Store to look for new apps if needed, so having most of them work was actually pretty nice. At the same time, the apps that didn't work made me feel dreadful every time I wanted to use something and remembered it doesn't work.

The lack of Google Services puts it at a great disadvantage and the only way to offset that is to lower the price significantly. If it had Google Services, the Honor 30 Pro+ would have been a competitive smartphone worth your hard-earned money. But Huawei's AppGallery still has a long way to go and the majority of apps still rely on Google's Services and there's no easy way around it.

The results are particularly close for Video, where the Honor performs at a very high level across the board, and differences between it and the P40 Pro are quite minor.

ARM Mali-G76 MP16:
De meeste niet-veeleisende huidige games kunnen vloeiend draaien. Wees voorbereid op verminderde grafische weergave door lage detailinstellingen en lage resoluties. Toch verschaffen deze kaarten voldoende prestatie voor kantoor taken en video bekijken (niet voor HD videos).

Kirin 990 5G: ARM-gebaseerde octa-core SoC met 2x Cortex-A76 tot 2,86 GHz (prestaties), 2x A76 met maximaal 2,36 (balans) en 4x Cortex-A53 met maximaal 1,95 GHz (energiebesparing). Integreert een neurale processor (2+1 kernen), een ARM Mali-G76 MP16 GPU tot 700 MHz en een Balong 5G-modem. In vergelijking met de 4G-versie is de 5G 990 iets hoger geklokt (2 van de 3 clusters en de GPU). De SoC wordt bij TSMC in 7nm geproduceerd.

Grote schermformaten laten hogere resoluties toe. Details zoals letters zijn groter. Anderzijds is het energieverbruik lager bij kleine schermdiagonalen en de toestellen zijn kleiner, lichter en goedkoper.

77%: Dit cijfer is niet echt overtuigend. Het moet in acht worden genomen dat er bijna geen laptops zijn die een score onder de 60% hebben. Dit notebook is beneden gemiddeld beoordeeld, en is niet aanbevolen te kopen.
