Kort testrapport ZTE Axon 10 Pro Smartphone: de underdog uit China

Ook verkrijgbaar met 5G. ZTE richt de Axon 10 Pro tegen moderne vlaggenschepen zoals de P30 Pro, vooral met betrekking tot design. De Chinese fabrikant heeft een vingerafdrukscanner in het scherm en 48 MP dubbele camera aan de achterzijde toegevoegd, maar zwaar bezuinigd op andere functies die topmodellen kenmerken. Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 277.8 Hz ≤ 99 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 277.8 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 99 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 277.8 Hz is relatief hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen. Er zijn echter rapporten die beweren dat sommige mensen toch flickering met 500 Hz en hoger kunnen waarnemen: opgelet dus.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9418 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde erg snelle responstijden in onze tests en zou zeer geschikt moeten zijn voor snelle games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 1 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (25 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

De ZTE Axon 10 Pro kan op vele niveaus concurreren met duurdere vlaggenschepen. Het heeft uitstekende systeemprestaties dankzij zijn Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC en 6 GB RAM. Veel fabrikanten laten de uitbreiding van de microSD-kaart ook voor deze prijs weg, wat de Axon 10 Pro een voordeel geeft omdat deze tot 2-TB-kaarten kan lezen. Het apparaat heeft ook camera's van goede kwaliteit, vooral voor het maken van macrofoto's. Echter, ZTE doet de Axon 10 Pro geen gunsten door hem exact te laten lijken op de Huawei P30 Pro.

De ZTE Axon 10 Pro is een krachtig alternatief voor andere duurdere vlaggenschepen. Het doet echter naar onze mening niet voldoende om zich te onderscheiden van de concurrentie. Erger nog, het lijkt op een namaak.

Het apparaat heeft last van vervelende tekorten. Hoewel we het AMOLED-paneel waarderen vanwege de goede contrastverhouding en zwartwaarde, is het relatief donker door de standaards van smartphones. Bovendien wordt onze testeenheid onder langdurige belasting te warm naar onze zin en kunnen sommige mensen tijdens het gamen daar last van krijgen.

Al met al is de Axon 10 Pro een goed uitgerust en krachtig alternatief voor meer gevestigde vlaggenschippen. ZTE heeft NFC, draadloos opladen en snelle Wi-Fi geïntegreerd, wat allemaal welkom is. Het bedrijf heeft zelfs een 5G-variant ontwikkeld, hoewel het 4G-model een betere waarde voor zijn geld biedt vanwege de beperkte beschikbaarheid van 5G op het moment van schrijven.
