Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 235.8 Hz

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 235.8 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) .

De frequentie van 235.8 Hz is redelijk laag en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering kunnen dit dus waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen (gebruikmakend van de vermelde helderheid en lager).

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9439 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde erg snelle responstijden in onze tests en zou zeer geschikt moeten zijn voor snelle games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 1 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (25.2 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Wat begon als een ambitieus idee, eindigde in teleurstelling. De vijfvoudige camera van de Nokia 9 PureView is zeker niet speciaal of zelfs bijzonder goed. De camera-app is traag en reageert niet, wat verder een slechte invloed heeft op de algemene indruk van deze smartphone-camera.

We kunnen alleen maar hopen dat HMD Global beide met een software-update zal verbeteren. Het is echt een schande, omdat het innovatieve idee van het combineren van drie monochrome met twee RGB-foto's veel potentieel heeft. De verbluffende bokeh-mogelijkheden zijn daarvan het levende bewijs.

De Nokia 9 PureView maakt geen volledig gebruik van zijn innovatieve vijfvoudige camera-ontwerp. Als gevolg hiervan is het zeker niet een van de beste smartphonecamera's die beschikbaar is.

Als de camerakwaliteit voor jou van het allergrootste belang is, dan zul je ergens anders moeten kijken. Het Mi 9-vlaggenschip van Xiaomi is een goed alternatief, welke tevens een stuk goedkoper is.

Over het algemeen slaagde de Nokia 9 PureView er nog in een goede indruk achter te laten. De hoogwaardige IP67-gecertificeerde aluminium behuizing maakte een goede indruk en dankzij de Android One-functie zijn beveiligingsupdates de komende jaren gegarandeerd. Bovendien biedt de LTE Cat. 16 modem snelle cellulaire communicatiesnelheden, beschikt het apparaat over een goede en nauwkeurige GPS-module, een zeer helder OLED-beeldscherm en biedt de smartphone zeer hoge algehele systeemprestaties.

Desalniettemin is de lijst met nadelen simpelweg te lang voor een vlaggenschip-smartphone. Hoewel de ontbrekende 3,5-mm koptelefoonaansluiting kan worden goedgemaakt door de meegeleverde USB-C-adapter, zijn andere problemen, zoals de ondermaatse vingerafdruklezer die af en toe niet in staat is om onze vingers volledig te detecteren, of de relatief korte batterijlevensduur veel lastiger te accepteren.
