Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 50 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 18192 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 34 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (24.7 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

De Redmi Note 9S van Xiaomi is het levende bewijs dat 200 euro je een geweldige smartphone kan opleveren in 2020, zowel qua grootte als qua uitrusting en connectiviteit. Toegegeven, je mag geen LTE-prestaties op het niveau van high-end smartphones, Wi-Fi 6 of NFC verwachten.

Wat de Redmi Note 9S in ruil daarvoor te bieden heeft, is een flexibele en veelzijdige camera-configuratie met meerdere goed bruikbare lenzen. Nogmaals, verwacht niet hetzelfde niveau van fotokwaliteit als bij veel duurdere high-end smartphones, maar als je je verwachtingen iets naar beneden bijstelt, zal je meer dan tevreden zijn met het camerasysteem.

Je krijgt ook een gigantische batterij, die op zijn minst gedeeltelijk verantwoordelijk is voor het hoge gewicht van de Redmi en een batterijduur van bijna 20 uur oplevert in onze WiFi-test.

De Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S biedt een degelijke camera en een lange batterijduur voor een lage prijs.

Het heldere scherm had baat kunnen hebben bij een hogere contrastverhouding. Lokalisering was nauwkeurig genoeg voor dagelijks gebruik. Gezien de prijsklasse was de Note 9S over het algemeen vrij krachtig. Het toestel heeft een last van thermische throttling onder belasting en bood op het moment van schrijven een up-to-date Android-systeem.

Over het algemeen verdient de Redmi Note 9S onze hartige aanbeveling, aangezien je uitstekende features krijgt voor een lage prijs.
