Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17567 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Xiaomi adverteert zijn betaalbare mid-range smartphone met de woorden: "Alles wat je nodig hebt." De Chinese fabrikant van Shenzhen is niet helemaal verkeerd met zijn reclameslogan, aangezien de Redmi Note 9 een echt goede smartphone ervaring biedt voor een straatprijs van ongeveer 150 euro (~$178) - we raden echter duidelijk aan om de 20 euro (~$24) meer te investeren om de 4-GB versie te krijgen. 

Wanneer je op zoek bent naar een betaalbare smartphone voor minder dan 200 euro (~$237), moet je zeker de Redmi Note 9 overwegen.       

Vergeleken met de Redmi 9 maakt het Note model gebruik van de betere luidspreker en de mooiere hoofdcamera. Het helderdere IPS-paneel met duidelijk meer contrast en stabielere kijkhoeken brengt vooral in het dagelijks gebruik een zichtbaar voordeel. Bovendien is de Note 9 standaard voorzien van de snellader.

De Redmi Note 9 is en blijft echter een instapmodel smartphone. Daarom moet u enkele compromissen sluiten bij de keuze van de processor, de kwaliteit van de camera - met name de ultra-groothoekcamera - en de opslag- en WLAN-snelheden.
