HP ZBook X G1i 16 recensie: Mager mobiel werkstation met Arrow Lake en Nvidia Blackwell

Verdict - Evenwichtige prestaties en draagbaarheid

De ZBook X G1i 16 houdt het midden tussen de langzamere ZBook 8-serie en de snellere maar zwaardere ZBook Fury-serie. Aan de buitenkant is er bijna niets veranderd ten opzichte van de ZBook Power 16 G11 en dus blijft de gebruikerservaring identiek, inclusief de functierijke poorten en comfortabele toetsen. Zowel de levensduur van de batterij als de prestaties zijn verbeterd, maar het stroomverbruik is ook iets hoger bij zware belastingen.

Sommige functies ontbreken nog op de machine. Terwijl CPU- en GPU-opties uit het hogere segment buiten bereik zijn, zoals te verwachten was, mist het model OLED, HDR en ECC RAM-ondersteuning, wat een kleine groep gebruikers kan irriteren. Poorten voelen druk aan langs de linkerrand, vooral omdat er geen USB-C poorten langs de rechterrand zijn. Gebruikers die graag de CPU en GPU belasten, zullen ook merken dat het systeem niet stiller is dan zijn tegenhanger van de vorige generatie.

Voor toekomstige modellen zouden we graag zien dat de ZBook X-serie afstapt van het eigen opladen met een AC-vat en tegelijkertijd betere CPU Turbo Boost-prestaties biedt. De processor bereikt vrij snel een temperatuur van meer dan 100 C wanneer deze onder druk staat, wat suggereert dat een sterkere koeloplossing gunstig zou kunnen zijn.

De HP ZBook X G1i 16 is een ultradun mobiel werkstation met midrange Arrow Lake-H processors en Nvidia RTX Pro Blackwell GPU graphics. Alternatieven voor de ZBook X G1i 16 zijn andere ultradunne 16-inch werkstations zoals de Dell Precision 5690, Lenovo ThinkPad P16s G2of de MSI CreatorPro serie. De ZBook X G1i 16 moet niet verward worden met de ZBook 8 G1i 16, wat een goedkopere versie is met de langzamere RTX Pro 500 GPU.

De ZBook X G1i 16 vervangt direct de ZBook Power 16 G11 en ondanks de naamsverandering zijn de twee modellen visueel vrijwel identiek. De fysieke kenmerken blijven bijna hetzelfde, inclusief het gewicht, de afmetingen en de poorten, en dus zijn onze opmerkingen over de ZBook Power 16 G11 hier nog steeds van toepassing op de ZBook X G1i 16.

Connectiviteit

De poortopties zijn verbeterd ten opzichte van vorig jaar ZBook Studio 16 G11 met één uitzondering. Hoewel de ZBook X G1i 16 extra poorten heeft, zoals RJ-45, HDMI en meer USB-A poorten, is een van de USB-C poorten verwijderd. Bovendien zouden we graag een volledige overgang naar USB-C opladen zien, vergelijkbaar met de recente Dell Pro Max 16 Plus.

Duurzaamheid

Alle HP Z workstations zijn EPEAT Gold of Silver gecertificeerd en bevatten oceaangebonden en gerecyclede kunststoffen of metalen tijdens het fabricageproces.

Accessoires en garantie

Er zitten geen extra's in de doos behalve de wisselstroomadapter en papierwerk. Een beperkte garantie van drie jaar is standaard bij aankoop via de website van de fabrikant.

Invoerapparaten

De type-ervaring is vergelijkbaar met die van de oudere ZBook Fury 16 G9 aangezien de toetsenbordindeling weinig veranderd is tussen de ZBook generaties. Op de ZBook X G1i 16 heeft HP echter de speciale muisknoppen verwijderd zonder het oppervlak te vergroten (12 x 8 cm tegenover 12,4 x 8,3 cm op de ZBook Fury 16 G9).

Weergave

Er zijn zes IPS-schermopties beschikbaar, variërend van 1200p60 en 300 nits tot 2400p120 en 500 nits met volledige DCI-P3-kleuren. Onze testunit wordt geleverd met de middelste matte 1600p 120 Hz optie die nog steeds P3 kleuren biedt, maar geen aanraakscherm of Sure View-mogelijkheden. Dit laatste is in feite alleen beschikbaar op het 1200p non-touch paneel.

Er zijn geen OLED-opties of HDR-ondersteuning voor dit model. Als kleurnauwkeurigheid belangrijk is, raden wij aan om een aantal goedkopere 1200p-opties te vermijden, omdat deze slechts ~60% van de sRGB-kleuren bieden.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

De achtergrondverlichting van het scherm flikkert op 26536 Hz (in het slechtste geval, bijvoorbeeld bij gebruik van PWM) aan een helderheid van 74 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 26536 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

We hebben Windows in de modus Prestaties gezet voordat we de onderstaande benchmarks uitvoerden.

Processor

De Core Ultra 7 265H biedt slechts een relatief kleine prestatieverhoging ten opzichte van de Core Ultra 7 155H met ongeveer 15 procent. Gebruikers die upgraden van een veel ouder model zoals de HP ZBook Studio 16 G9 zullen een significantere boost van ongeveer 30 procent zien.

De prestaties dalen met ongeveer 10 procent bij het uitvoeren van onze looping CineBench R15 xT stresstest als gevolg van Turbo Boost beperkingen, zoals beschreven in onze Stress Test sectie hieronder.

GPU-prestaties

De RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell in de HP mikt op 60 W voor een ruw prestatieniveau dat net iets hoger ligt dan dat van de vorige generatie RTX 2000 Ada Lovelace. Ondertussen kunnen gebruikers die upgraden van de veel oudere RTX A2000 op modellen zoals de 2022 ZBook Studio 16 G9 een significantere verbetering zien van 1,5x tot 1,9x.

In de Balanced-modus draaien in plaats van in de Performance-modus zou de grafische prestaties met ongeveer 5 procent beïnvloeden, zoals blijkt uit onze onderstaande tabel met Fire Strike resultaten. Bij gaming presteert de RTX Pro 2000 het meest vergelijkbaar met de mobiele GeForce RTX 4060 of 5060.

Stresstest

De CPU werd opgevoerd naar 3,6 GHz, 108 W en een aangename 104 C bij het starten van Prime95, voordat hij enkele momenten later daalde en stabiliseerde op 3,0 GHz, 62 W en 88 C om de beperkte maximale Turbo Boost-duurzaamheid weer te geven. Interessant is dat CPU kloksnelheden wisselden terwijl GPU kloksnelheden constant bleven tijdens het gelijktijdig uitvoeren van Prime95 en FurMark.

We kunnen een tijdelijke maximale stroomafname van 153 W meten uit de kleine (~13,8 x 6,5 x 2,2 cm) 150 W wisselstroomadapter wanneer de CPU en GPU volledig belast worden.
