The base configuration of the ZBook Ultra costs $2,599, which is a bit steep for the average consumer. And it doesn’t get the full leverage of the Ryzen AI Max Pro chipset’s unified memory. If you need the ultimate combination of affordability, power, and battery life, the MacBook Pro 14 (M4, 2024) is still the way to go, especially if you don’t need to run Windows to access all of your applications.

On the higher-end models, like the one reviewed, it's got the chops to chew through complex calculations, 3D modeling, and anything else you could dream up. But if you can't afford to crank the sliders up to the top, it's no different from most consumer laptops, except the price tag is twice what you'd expect to pay for a comparable Arrow Lake mobile clamshell with no discrete GPU. That said, anyone needing a mobile workstation won't be settling for second-best, which means speccing it out to the nines. In this realm, value takes a backseat to the simple equation of "can it do the task or not," and in that calculus, the HP ZBook X G1i is very good indeed. The only question mark is over the 8GB of VRAM on the discrete GPU, because while it's enough for video editing or other creative tasks, it's nowhere near enough to deal with many of the AI models that you might want to use in the field.

It's really a machine for power users, and a fantastic one at that – but if portability is more of a priority, or a stronger battery life – or you even just need something for more basic tasks – we would consider a cheaper option. That said, for a workstation, you couldn't ask for much more.

Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Comet Lake:

W-10885M: Op Coffee Lake architectuur gebaseerde processor voor grote en zware laptops. Integreert acht processorkernen die geklokt zijn op 2,4 - 5,3 GHz en die HyperThreading ondersteunen. Vervaardigd in een verbeterd 14nm proces (14nm++). De Intel Xeon W-10885M ondersteunt de managementfuncties vPro, TXT en SIPP en is de professionele versie van de Intel Core i9-10885H.

AMD Strix Halo/Point (Zen 5/5c, Ryzen AI 300):

Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395: Een superkrachtige processor uit de Strix Halo-familie die in januari 2025 zijn debuut maakte. De Ryzen AI Max+ PRO APU wordt geleverd met 16 Zen 5 CPU-kernen, de 40 CU RDNA 3+ Radeon 8060S grafische adapter en de 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. Andere belangrijke kenmerken zijn de AMD Secure Processor (een on-package ARM co-processor) en AMD-Vi. Er is nog steeds geen PCIe 5 ondersteuning.

Intel Arrow Lake:

Ultra 7 265H: High-end mobiele processor gebaseerd op de Arrow Lake architectuur met 16 cores verdeeld over 3 clusters. De snelle 6 P-cores klokken tot 5,3 GHz. Er zijn ook 8 kleinere E-cores met maximaal 4,5 GHz en 2 kleine energiezuinige cores (zelfde architectuur) met maximaal 2,5 GHz.
