Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 595 Hz ≤ 15 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 595 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 15 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 595 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17893 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde relatief trage responstijden in onze tests en is misschien te traag voor games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 60 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd slechter is dan het gemiddelde (24.5 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

De Redmi 8A biedt opnieuw veel functies voor een beperkt budget: zeer, zeer lange batterijduur, een behoorlijke luidspreker, een moderne en stabiele behuizing, up-to-date beveiligingspatches en behoorlijk wat opslagruimte. Natuurlijk heb je je eigen voedingsadapter nodig voor de geadverteerde snellaadfunctie, en de keuze om MIUI 11 te implementeren, maar het nog steeds alleen op Android 9 te baseren, is gewaagd.

Locatie- en Wi-Fi-snelheden zijn op klasniveau, net als de prestaties zelf. Wat betreft de camera, er zijn behoorlijk slechtere modellen voor een vergelijkbaar budget, dus je kunt hier met een gerust hart tot aankoop overgaan.

Een goedkope smartphone met een geweldige configuratie: de Xiaomi Redmi 8A is een voor de hand liggende aanbeveling.

Voor iets minder dan €120 kun je op dit moment nauwelijks meer krijgen voor het geld, maar de Redmi 7A is het meest indrukwekkende apparaat voor een nog lagere prijs en met slechts een klein aantal tekortkomingen. Echter, degenen die op zoek zijn naar een groter beeldscherm, een nog langere batterijlevensduur en die de voorkeur geven aan het modernere ontwerp, kunnen niet misgaan met de €30 euro extra investering.
