Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 9615 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 33 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden. De frequentie van 9615 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen. Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9700 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen. |

HTC is met de U11 Plus trouw gebleven aan zijn gevestigde design. Toch heeft de fabrikant zijn vlaggenschip een beperkter kleurpalet gegeven. HTC heeft veel goede keuzes gemaakt en berust opnieuw op de vertrouwde sterktes die we reeds in het kleinere zustermodel zagen. Een aantal voorbeelden: een bliksemsnelle Snapdragon-SoC, meer dan genoeg opslag, die nog verder uitbreidbaar is, een water- en stofdichte behuizing, een nauwkeurige GPS-module en een erg goed gekalibreerd scherm, dat ondanks zijn formaat comfortabel in de hand licht, dankzij de nieuwe 2:1 schermverhouding.
Helaas is het scherm relatief donker. Dit veroorzaakt vooral problemen in zonnige periodes, aangezien de leesbaarheid buitenshuis dan redelijk beperkt is. We vragen ons ook af waarom de HTC U11 Plus niet zijn LTE-modem ten volle benut en kiest om de snelheden te beperken tot categorie 15.
Met de U11 Plus biedt HTC een prima smartphone. Niettemin laat het toestel steken vallen op het vlak van schermhelderheid en LTE-snelheid, wat de totaalscore aantast.
De dikke batterij zorgt voor een uitstekende batterijduur. We hadden echter nog beter verwacht van een toestel van dit formaat. Batterijduur kan gelukkig nog verbeterd worden met toekomstige updates. De systeemprestaties zijn van een erg hoor niveau. Dit maakt de HTC U11 Plus tot een van de snelse Android-smartphones op de markt.
