Charisma. De slanke en compacte Aero 15-X9 is de opvolger van de populaire Aero 15X v8 die we vorig jaar hebben getest. De nieuwe 15,6-inch gaming-laptop speelt probleemloos moderne Triple A-games op zijn 144 Hz 1080p-beeldscherm dankzij de Core i7-8750H-processor, RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU en 16 GB DDR4-2666 RAM. De NVMe SSD moet ook zorgen voor solide systeemprestaties, terwijl de Thunderbolt 3-poort je de mogelijkheid biedt om een externe GPU aan te sluiten als je een desktop-GPU wilt gebruiken. Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 14 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (25.2 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (40.2 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9447 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

De Gigabyte Aero 15-X9 is een uitstekende gaming-laptop, maar het is slechts een kleine verfijning van zijn voorganger met een paar extra nadelen. De Core i7-8750H-processor en de RTX-2070 Max-Q GPU is een sterke combinatie die krachtig genoeg is om alle Triple A-games te draaien met maximale grafische details op een 1080p resolutie. Bovendien zorgt de NVMe SSD ervoor dat het systeem soepel loopt, zelfs onder langdurige belasting. Het apparaat is gemakkelijk te onderhouden en te upgraden, wat we op prijs stellen.

De Gigabyte Aero 15-X9 is een toonaangevende dunne en lichte gaming-laptop, maar het is niet zo indrukwekkend als zijn voorganger een jaar geleden.

Op dezelfde manier blijft het 144 Hz IPS-scherm indruk maken met zijn X-Rite Pantone-certificering, zijn stabiele kijkhoeken en de lage responstijden. Het is echter nogal donker, wat resulteert in een slechte contrastverhouding.

Helaas is de batterijlevensduur slecht, gezien de norm die zijn voorganger heeft gesteld. We hopen dat dit een bug is die Gigabyte kan oplossen. Bovendien genereert de krachtigere GPU meer warmte, waardoor het apparaat te warm is om op je schoot te hebben tijdens gamen of videobewerking. De het gebruiken van single-channel RAM vormt ook een belemmering voor de prestaties. Gelukkig zijn al deze problemen, afgezien van de hoge temperaturen, hopelijk oplosbaar. Het apparaat wordt momenteel voor enkele honderden dollars meer dan zijn voorganger verkocht en biedt slechts kleine verbeteringen. Kortom, de Gigabyte Aero 15-X9 is een van de beste dunne en lichte gaming-laptops momenteel op de markt, maar de hoge prijs en problemen ten tijde van onze tests betekenen dat we het apparaat niet zo goed kunnen aanbevelen als we deden met zijn voorganger.
