Geen Xiaomi Mi 9 killer. De Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro heeft net als zijn zustermodel Mi 9T een gemotoriseerde pop-up-frontcamera om het hoogst mogelijke, relatieve schermoppervlakte te bereiken. Het toestel heeft een Snapdragon 855, 8 GB RAM en UFS 2.1-opslag met 128 GB, maar Xiaomi heeft op andere vlakken bespaard om de Mi 9 niet te kannibaliseren. Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 223 Hz

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 223 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) .

De frequentie van 223 Hz is redelijk laag en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering kunnen dit dus waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen (gebruikmakend van de vermelde helderheid en lager).

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9418 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde erg snelle responstijden in onze tests en zou zeer geschikt moeten zijn voor snelle games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 4 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (25.1 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

De Mi 9T Pro of de Redmi K20 Pro (afhankelijk van waar je leeft) is opnieuw een krachtige maar betaalbare smartphone van Xioami. Als het bedrijf de Mi 9T Pro wereldwijd zou lanceren voor ongeveer 400 euro, zoals sommige verkopers aanrekenen voor de Redmi K20 Pro, zouden we het toestel aanbevelen als je op zoek bent naar een smartphone voor minder dan 500 euro.

Een van de grootste hoogtepunten van het toestel is het prachtige AMOLED-paneel, dat nauwelijks randen heeft dankzij zijn inschuifbare frontcamera. De Snapdragon 855 en 8 GB RAM staan eveneens in voor uitstekende prestaties, terwijl de 128 GB opslag tot de snelste UFS 2.1 op de markt behoort. We zijn ook blij met het feit dat Xiaomi bij een vingerafdruklezer in het scherm is gebleven, aangezien dit het toestel meer future-proof maakt dan veel van zijn concurrenten.

De Mi 9T Pro heeft echter ook nadelen, hoewel een wereldwijd model een aantal hiervan zou kunnen aanpakken. De beperkte LTE-dekking en Widevine L3-certificatie zouden hierdoor alvast van de baan zijn, maar de mono-luidspreker, het niet-uitbreidbare geheugen, ontbreken van draadloos opladen en IP-certificatie blijven vervelende minpunten. We betwijfelen ook of het wereldwijde model de throttling van het SoC zou verhelpen. Ten slotte is MIUI ook een kwestie van persoonlijke smaak.

De Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, beter bekend als de Redmi K20 Pro in sommige regio's, is een uitstekende all-rounder, maar mist het afgewerkte gevoel van de Mi 9.

De gemotoriseerde pop-up selfie-camera en het design zonder 'notch' helpen de Mi 9T om zich te onderscheiden van zijn concurrenten, al lijkt het onverstandig van Xiaomi om het toestel uit te brengen onder de Mi 9-serie. Hoewel de Mi 9T Pro ongeveer evenveel kost als de Mi 9, maken de tragere Wi-Fi-module, mono-luidspreker, tragere opslag en slechtere kleurweergave het een moeilijker toestel om aan te bevelen dan zijn naamgenoot. De Mi 9T Pro heeft wel een grotere batterij (en betere batterijduur) en een 3.5-mm audio-aansluiting, wat de balans voor sommige mensen zal doen doorslaan te voordele van de Pro.
