Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 373.1 Hz ≤ 99 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 373.1 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 99 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 373.1 Hz is relatief hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen. Er zijn echter rapporten die beweren dat sommige mensen toch flickering met 500 Hz en hoger kunnen waarnemen: opgelet dus.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17520 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

De Vivo X50 Pro combineert middenklasse hardware met een geweldige bouwkwaliteit, een hoogwaardige uitstraling en een modern ontwerp. Het beschikt over een helder AMOLED-paneel en een gimbal camera die zeer goede foto's kan maken. Ondanks het feit dat de Vivo X50 Pro slechts een apparaat uit de hogere middenklasse is, is het niveau van beeldstabilisatie uitstekend in vergelijking met high-end smartphones met traditionele OIS.

De Vivo X50 Pro is een goed uitziende smartphone uit het middensegment. Het FunTouch-besturingssysteem heeft echter dringend behoefte aan enige ‘europeanisering’.

Officiële Europese prijzen zijn nog niet bekendgemaakt. Mocht het ongeveer hetzelfde kosten als de LG Velvet, dan wordt deze “exotische” middenklasse kanshebber zeker een zeer interessante keuze. Dat gezegd hebbende, de concurrentie in dit segment is hard en talrijk, en zodra de X50 Pro officieel beschikbaar zal zijn in Europa, verwachten we dat apparaten zoals de Xiaomi Mi 10 of OnePlus 8 ongeveer in dezelfde prijsklasse zullen concurreren.

 

Gezien het feit dat de Chinese fabrikant zijn aanwezigheid in Duitsland al heeft gevestigd met onder meer een officieel Instagram-account, verwachten we dat deze toestellen uiterlijk eind dit jaar officieel beschikbaar zullen zijn. Met de release van de wereldwijde versie van dit apparaat hopen we aangepaste softwarefuncties te zien in vergelijking met onze Chinese review-unit, een DRM-certificering en ondersteuning voor extra LTE-banden, zoals de vrij algemene band 28.
