Hardware upgrade. Hoewel de Aero 17 HDR extern overeenkomt met zijn voorganger, is er veel onder de motorkap veranderd. Naast de nieuwe CPU biedt de 17 inch gaming laptop ook een vernieuwde GPU. Lees hier hoe goed deze nieuwe componenten met elkaar kunnen werken.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde relatief trage responstijden in onze tests en is misschien te traag voor games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 47 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (24.8 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Het scherm vertoonde trage responstijden in onze tests en is misschien te traag voor games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.9 (minimum) tot 636 (maximum) ms. » 90 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd slechter is dan het gemiddelde (39.4 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 18254 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Terwijl content creators een helder 4K-scherm met nauwkeurige kleuren zullen waarderen, krijgen gamers dankzij de octa-core CPU en high-end GPU ook wat ze nodig hebben. Ook Gigabyte heeft ook aan (bijna) al het andere gedacht. De robuuste behuizing scoort met goede invoerapparaten en een ruime hoeveelheid aansluitapparatuur, waaronder Thunderbolt 3. De batterijduur is ook indrukwekkend voor een gaming-notebook.

Als het niet was om de hoge ruisontwikkeling onder belasting en een paar details (ongelukkige webcampositie, gebrek aan verlichting voor secundaire functies en een poortpositie die niet optimaal is), zouden we alles echt leuk vinden aan de Aero 17 HDR.
