EN→NLThe Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 isn’t a love-at-first-sight laptop. But after getting to know it, I could see myself being happy using it every day for gaming and working. I’m not thrilled with its trackpad, but its keyboard is one of the most comfortable I’ve ever used for typing short emails or long pages of text. It’s much cheaper than flashier gaming laptops, cranks out high frame rates even in demanding games, stays cool, and the battery lasts over eight hours. It’s everything you’d expect from a gaming laptop, plus a little extra.

EN→NLYes, it’s a great laptop for on-the-go content developers who can’t compromise on graphics performance. The Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 is a tad chunky for a 14-inch laptop, but it’s still easier to tote around than a 16-inch laptop with similar performance. It doesn’t just push out frames—it runs its Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card at a higher power than most other gaming laptops, and it does so while still keeping cool enough to avoid throttling. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 isn’t quite as powerful (its RTX 4070 is power-capped at 90 watts unlike the Helios Neo 14’s), but in return, you get a laptop with one of the best OLED displays on the market, fantastic audio, a 12-hour battery life, and aesthetics that rival Apple’s MacBooks.

EN→NLThe Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 (PHN14-51) ticks the most important checkmarks when it comes to a gaming laptop. This includes very good CPU and GPU performance, a great display, and goodies such as MUX switch and G-SYNC. So, that’s a 14-incher, but the P and E cores of the Core Ultra 7 155H can boost to 3.70 GHz / 2.65 GHz in long processor stress such as 3D rendering which is a superb result. The GPU runs at ~2514 MHz / 124W during gaming which is enough for a high FPS alongside bumped visuals. Now, in “Turbo” mode, the fans are noisy but not too intrusive. If you apply the “Performance” preset, this will result in much less noise, a bit hindered CPU clocks, and ~100W GPU TGP which is still fine even for more demanding games. In this scenario, the right side of the board feels hot (but not too much) while the thermals of the WASD section are normal.

EN→NLHaving tested this laptop's bigger sibling a couple of months ago, the smaller package hasn't surfaced any shocks or surprises. Acer's 14-inch Predator Helios Neo is just as solid and reliable as the 16-inch model, while packing in a really great specs list without pushing its price to a silly place. However, it's not as inspiring in design terms, or as useable for general admin, as some others I've used this year – but if you want a great gaming laptop that's not giant then this should last for a good number of years before it starts to show any weakness.

EN→NLThe Predator Helios Neo 14 AI is a competent machine, but not quite the one I’d recommend. While it tries to join the fray of thinner and lighter gaming laptops, it doesn’t quite hit its mark with a weight of over four pounds and awkward dimensions that can make it hard to fit into laptop sleeves. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 fulfills that promise much more effectively, has a better design, an equally excellent display, much longer battery life to go alongside the portability, and it offers close enough performance (that even sometimes catches up in its Turbo mode) while costing a similar amount. And where raw performance is more of a concern than portability, the Lenovo Legion 5i 15IRX10 showed that it can beat the Predator Helios Neo 14 AI while costing far less. Against its rivals, the Predator Helios Neo 14 AI consistently proves to be good, but just not good enough.

Acer: In 1976 werd het bedrijf in Taiwan opgericht onder de naam Multitech en in 1987 omgedoopt tot Acer of Acer Group. Het productassortiment omvat bijvoorbeeld laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitoren, tv's en computerrandapparatuur. Sinds 2007 is de groep gefuseerd met Gateway Inc. en Packard Bell, die ook hun eigen productlijnen voor laptops op de markt brengen.
Acer computers zijn ontworpen voor verschillende doeleinden, waaronder ultrabooks voor mobiel gebruik, gaming laptops voor gamers, betaalbare opties voor alledaagse taken en 2-in-1 converteerbare laptops voor veelzijdigheid. Het productportfolio van Acer omvat ook tablets die draagbare computer- en multimediamogelijkheden bieden.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden de meeste moderne spellen op een hoge resolutie en hoge details moeten kunnen draaien (enkele uitzonderingen zijn mogelijk).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU:
High-end grafische kaart voor laptops gebaseerd op de Ada Lovelace-architectuur. Biedt 8 GB GDDR6 (128 bit) en is configureerbaar met een TGP van 35 - 115 W (+ Dynamic Boost).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop: Een aankomende grafische kaart uit de Blackwell-familie voor laptops, die Team Green waarschijnlijk op CES 2025 zal presenteren. Aangezien de 4070 laptop 4.608 unified shaders (CUDA-kernen) heeft, zal de 5070 hoogstwaarschijnlijk meer dan 5.000 shaders hebben.
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 7 155H: Een high-end Meteor Lake-chip die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-processor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-chips van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 16 kernen (6 + 8 + 2) en 22 threads. De Performance-kernen, waarvan er 6 zijn, draaien op maximaal 4,8 GHz, terwijl de Efficient-kernen, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,8 GHz draaien. De geïntegreerde AI Boost NPU biedt twee Gen 3 engines voor hardware AI werklastversnelling. Het "minimaal verzekerde" stroomverbruik van deze laptopprocessor is 28 W, terwijl het Turbo-verbruik binnen de 115 W zou moeten blijven.
Ultra 9 185H: Een top-of-the-line Meteor Lake-chip die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-processor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-chips van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 16 kernen (6 + 8 + 2) en 22 threads. De Performance-kernen, waarvan er 6 zijn, draaien op maximaal 5,1 GHz, terwijl de Efficient-kernen, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,8 GHz draaien. De 8-core Arc GPU, net uit de oven, doet dienst als geïntegreerde grafische adapter - deze draait op maximaal 2,35 GHz - en er is nog een heleboel andere gloednieuwe technologieën beschikbaar, zoals de geïntegreerde AI Boost NPU met twee Gen 3 engines voor hardwarematige AI-werklastversnelling. Het "basis"stroomverbruik van deze laptopprocessor is 45 W, terwijl het Turbo stroomverbruik niet boven de 115 W mag komen.
Intel Arrow Lake:
Ultra 7 255H: High-end mobiele processor gebaseerd op de Arrow Lake architectuur met 16 cores verdeeld over 3 clusters. De snelle 6 P-cores klokken tot 5,1 GHz. Er zijn ook 8 kleinere E-cores met maximaal 4,4 GHz en 2 kleine energiezuinige cores (zelfde architectuur) met maximaal 2,5 GHz. Er is een kleine NPU geïntegreerd met 13 TOPS piekprestaties en ondersteuning voor vPro Essentials.
Ultra 9 285H: High-end mobiele processor gebaseerd op de Arrow Lake architectuur met 16 cores verdeeld over 3 clusters. De 6 snelle P-cores klokken tot 5,4 GHz. Er zijn ook 8 kleinere E-cores met maximaal 4,5 GHz en 2 kleine energiezuinige cores (zelfde architectuur) met maximaal 2,5 GHz. De SoC bevat een kleine NPU met 13 TOPS piekprestaties en ondersteunt vPro Enterprise.
