EN→NLFor the asking price, the Acer Nitro 16S AI is a well-balanced gaming laptop. Performance is strong (remember, the model on sale in the UK has a more powerful GPU with 12GB of vRAM than the one I was sent to test), while battery life is decent for a thoroughbred gaming machine. The option to add a second SSD and more RAM is always welcome, and buyers who want a laptop for general use as well as for gaming will welcome support for Windows AI functions like Recall and the facial recognition webcam. If I had to pick a hole or two, I’d prefer a screen that covered 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space and had a little less bounce in the keyboard, but I don’t regard either as a deal-breaker. It’s a shame Acer isn’t selling the entry-level RTX 5060 model in the UK because I suspect it would represent even better value given the frame rates that even the lowliest of the latest Blackwell GPUs can deliver with games supporting DLSS 4, but if you splash out on either of the RTX 5070Ti models you will not be disappointed.

EN→NLThe Acer Nitro 16S AI is a capable mid-range gaming laptop with solid performance at 1080p and 1440p, plus it offers surprisingly strong battery life for a laptop of its power alongside a comfortable keyboard and excellent port selection. Its IPS screen is fine and bright, although it lacks the punch from OLED options elsewhere. Against the older Acer Nitro V16, there is a handy boost in performance from the newer internals here, plus much better battery life, while it retains the same minimalistic design. It also has a much stronger screen than Medion’s Erazer Deputy 15 P1, although it isn’t quite as powerful as that one, or the Asus TUF Gaming A18. If you want a capable mid-ranger, this Acer choice is definitely a contender.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop: Mobiele mid-range videokaart uit de Blackwell familie gebaseerd op de GB206 chip met 3328 shaders en 8 GB GDDR7 grafisch geheugen (128 bit).
Deze middenklasse grafische kaarten kunnen alle huidige spellen vloeiend spelen. Veeleisende spellen kunnen alleen met gemiddelde detail instellingen gespeeld worden.

Ryzen AI 7 350: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Strix Point familie die in oktober 2024 zijn debuut maakte. De APU met hybride architectuur heeft 8 CPU-kernen (een mix van Zen 5- en Zen 5c-kernen) die op maximaal 5,0 GHz draaien, samen met de Radeon 880M grafische adapter en de 50 TOPS XDNA 2 neurale engine. De AMD Secure Processor (in een notendop een on-package ARM co-processor) is ook aan boord, net als een paar andere high-end functies, zoals AMD-Vi. Andere belangrijke kenmerken zijn PCIe 4, USB 4 en tot LPDDR5x-8000 RAM ondersteuning, inclusief ECC RAM. De TDP vermogensdoelstelling voor de lange termijn kan oplopen tot 55 W.
