Motorola heeft weer een mooie telefoon uitgebracht om de prijsbewuste consument mee te verleiden. De grootste charmes? Zijn fraaie scherm, luxe looks, prima prestaties en uitstekende accuduur. De upgrade van 5200 mAh naar 7000 mAh is fors, van de iets snellere chip heb je minder profijt. De foto’s vallen niet tegen, al past de kwaliteit bij de prijsklasse. De huis-, tuin- en keukenfotograaf zal echter tevreden zijn. Er zijn helaas ook minpunten. Zo zijn de voorgeïnstalleerde apps vervelend. Ook krijg je voor de huidige prijs toestellen met een snellere chip en beter updatebeleid. En waarom biedt Motorola geen optie meer om een micro sd-kaartje bij te steken? Zonde. Toch zijn wij positief verrast omdat de Edge 70 Fusion voor z’n huidige prijs van € 332,70 veel te bieden heeft. Een dikverdiende acht!

It has a glass front with Gorilla Glass 7i, a plastic frame, and impressive protection IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance meaning it can survive high-pressure water jets and submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. It is also drop resistant up to 1.2 meters and meets MIL-STD-810H military standards. The display is a stunning 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with 1 billion colors, a buttery-smooth 144Hz refresh rate, and an eye-searing peak brightness of 5200 nits great for sunlight visibility. Whether you are scrolling social media or watching HDR10+ videos, it looks fantastic. Depending on where you buy it, the phone runs on either a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (International) or a slightly faster Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (India) chipset, both built on a power-efficient 4nm process. It comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage no microSD card slot. The phone runs Android 16 out of the box and promises three major Android upgrades, so it will stay current for years. For photography, you get a solid dual camera setup a 50MP main shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS) for sharp, steady shots, plus a 13MP ultrawide camera with a 120 degree field of view. Selfies are handled by a 32MP front camera.

If you’re looking for a reliable camera and excellent stamina for under £400, the Edge 70 Fusion will serve you well. But standing in its way is the Honor Magic 8 Lite, which achieves slightly longer battery life while also offering twice the storage capacity, improved software support and, at the time of writing, a lower asking price of £350. I was less impressed with the cameras, however, with the ultrawide in particular being one of the weakest I’ve tested. If camera quality is a high priority for you, I’d still stick with the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion.
