Minisforum brengt de Venus-serie op de markt als compacte mini-PC's voor dagelijks kantoorgebruik. Deze compacte computermaatjes zijn echter voortdurend uitgerust met krachtige processors. Bovendien blonk Minisforum in het verleden uit met eersteklas behuizingen en goede koelsystemen. Met de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 bespreken we nu een compacte mini PC die qua prijs nog aanzienlijk aantrekkelijker is. Iedereen voor wie deMinisforum Venus-serie NAB6 te duur is, vindt een goed alternatief in de vorm van de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245. U zult echter wel compromissen moeten accepteren, omdat de fabrikant niet heeft gekozen voor een metalen behuizing en Thunderbolt.

Zoals bij veel apparaten van Minisforum is de Venus Series UN1245 ook verkrijgbaar als barebone-optie zonder RAM en een SSD. Zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, is er eenIntel Core i5-12450Haan het werk onder de motorkap. De versie zonder RAM en een SSD gaat momenteel voor $ 310 van de hand. Iedereen die een Intel Core i7-12650H zal $70 extra moeten betalen. Ons recensie-exemplaar is uitgerust met 16 GB DDR4 RAM en een 512 GB SSD. In de winkel is er echter geen optie met deze specificaties. Momenteel kost de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 met 32 GB RAM en een 512 GB SSD ongeveer $429, wat betekent dat ons recensieapparaat net daaronder geprijsd zou moeten zijn.

Behuizing - Plastic in plaats van aluminium

Om de productiekosten te drukken en een lage aankoopprijs te garanderen, is de behuizing van de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 gemaakt van plastic. Qua kleur is de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 overwegend zilver met zwarte elementen aan de achterkant van het apparaat. De voet is ook helemaal zwart. Op het gebied van stabiliteit konden we geen ernstige zwakke punten ontdekken. Visueel is het apparaat goed gebouwd, hoewel het in vergelijking met de Minisforum Venus-serie NAB6lijdt de haptische ervaring enigszins. Qua ruimte sluiten deze twee apparaten geen compromissen en met 12,9 × 12,8 centimeter blijft de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 een compact apparaat. Met deMini IT11laat Geekom zien dat nog kleiner mogelijk is.

Op het gebied van gewicht behoort ons recensie-exemplaar met 545 gram tot de lichtste in de vergelijking. Alleen de Geekom Mini IT11 is een paar gram lichter. Wie de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 op een monitor wil bevestigen, kan dat doen met behulp van een montageplaat (VESA mount). De benodigde accessoires vindt u in de doos.

Kenmerken - Een goede selectie, maar zonder Thunderbolt

In principe zijn er geen klachten als het gaat om externe interfaces. De Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 biedt een solide selectie met veel USB-poorten aan de voor- en achterkant. Monitoren kunnen worden aangesloten via HDMI, DisplayPort of USB-C. Deze laatste kan ook gebruikt worden om het apparaat van stroom te voorzien. Iedereen die in het bezit is van een monitor met een Power Delivery functie bespaart zichzelf een extra kabel.

Communicatie

De Wi-Fi-module van de Venus-serie UN1245 van Minisforum

We zijn al bekend met de geïnstalleerde Mediathek RZ608 Wi-Fi-module, omdat deze in veel minipc's van Minisforum te vinden is. In principe levert de radiomodule voldoende prestaties, maar in vergelijking zijn zijn soortgenoten vaak beter, zij het niet in ernstige mate. Het is echter de moeite waard om erop te wijzen dat het gebruik van een 6 GHz frequentieband niet tot betere overdrachtsnelheden leidt. In onze test registreerden we relatief stabiele overdrachtsnelheden zonder enige prestatiedips. Voor de test gebruikten we onze Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 testrouter. Als alternatief biedt de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 twee snelle bekabelde verbindingen die snelheden tot 2,5 GBit/s mogelijk maken.

Accessoires

Naast het apparaat bevat de doos een 90-watt PSU en een montageplaat om de computer op een monitor te monteren (VESA-montage). Een HDMI-kabel en een beknopte handleiding zijn ook inbegrepen.

Onderhoud

Aangezien Minisforum de Venus Series UN1245 ook als barebone-variant verkoopt, spreekt het voor zich dat u toegang tot de interne onderdelen moet krijgen om RAM of een SSD te installeren. Hiervoor moet de basis verwijderd worden. Dit kan gedaan worden door de schroeven onder de rubberen voetjes te verwijderen. Als u de CPU ventilator wilt schoonmaken, moet u het apparaat iets verder demonteren. We raden echter af om het koelsysteem te demonteren, omdat Minisforum vloeibaar metaal gebruikt om een optimale warmteafvoer te garanderen. Intern biedt de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 ruimte voor twee SO DIMM-modules en twee apparaten voor massaopslag.

Prestaties - Alder Lake-H met 8 cores en 12 threads

Met deIntel Core i5-12450Hbiedt de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 een goede SoC, maar wel eentje die niet tot de modernste modellen behoort. Voor dagelijks gebruik verwachten we geen problemen, omdat de SoC met 8 cores en 12 threads ook veeleisende taken aankan. Een identiek model dat Minisforum als de Venus Series UN1265 op de markt brengt, biedt iets meer kracht met zijn Intel Core i7-12650H.

Testomstandigheden

Alle prestatietests werden uitgevoerd met het hoogst presterende energieprofiel. De prestaties van de SoC werden niet gewijzigd in het BIOS en bleven in overeenstemming met de fabrieksinstellingen van de fabrikant. Voor de geluidsemissie- en energiemetingen werden verschillende energieprofielen gebruikt, zoals gedefinieerd in onze testcriteria.

Processor

Met deIntel Core i5-12450Hbiedt de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 een snelle SoC die over acht native rekenkernen beschikt en in totaal 12 threads tegelijk kan verwerken. In de test hebben we echter gezien dat ons evaluatie-exemplaar achter deAcemagic AD15. De reden hiervoor werd snel duidelijk, omdat Minisforum het stroomverbruik van de Intel Core i5-12450H beperkt tot slechts 45 watt. Desondanks hoeft de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 zich niet te verstoppen, aangezien de prestaties van de processor meer dan voldoende zijn in alledaagse situaties. De goede single-core prestaties worden niet beïnvloed door deze beperking. Iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in de structureel identieke Minisforum Venus Series UN1265 moet kijken naar deMinisforum Venus-serie NAB6ter oriëntatie.

Hier kunt u duidelijk zien dat het Minisforum deIntel Core i5-12450Hmeer dan 45 watt geeft. Ook wat betreft temperaturen kunt u zien dat de SoC slechts geleidelijk opwarmt en een maximum van slechts 72 °C bereikt.

Systeemprestaties

De Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 heeft de synthetische benchmarks met betrekking tot systeemprestaties zeer goed doorstaan. Het was echter niet genoeg om de toppositie op te eisen, aangezien de Minisforum Venus Series NAB6 hier bijna constant betere prestaties liet zien. De Morefine, met zijn M600 660U, is ook een serieuze concurrent. Bovendien is de Morefine M600 6600U uitgerust met sneller RAM (DDR5), zoals blijkt uit de AIDA64-tests. Vanuit een puur subjectief oogpunt zijn de systeemprestaties van de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 goed en niet merkbaar slechter dan die van de concurrerende apparaten.

Zowel bij het openen van meerdere tabbladen in Edge als tijdens het afspelen van onze 4K testvideo's was ons testapparaat er klaar voor. Dit maakt de UN1245 perfect geschikt als streamingclient voor video's in hoge resolutie.

Massa-opslag

Minisforum heeft een Kingston 512 GB NVMe SSD geïnstalleerd in de Venus Series UN1245. Minisforum rust ook enkele van zijn andere mini-pc's uit met dit model en we waren al onder de indruk van de prestaties in de Minisforum Venus Series NAB6. In ons evaluatie-exemplaar zagen we betere prestaties, wat betekent dat de UN1245 vrijwel zeker beter is in de benchmarks. In het dagelijks gebruik zijn de prestaties van de SSD echter nogal tweederangs. Desalniettemin zijn we blij dat de fabrikant de stap heeft gezet om te kiezen voor solide SSD's met prachtige prestaties die eerder al goede resultaten opleverden. Op het gebied van koeling sloeg Minisforum een nieuwe weg in met de NAB6en installeerde een koeler met een kleine ventilator. Met onze Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 hebben we echter weer te maken met een conventionele passieve koeler. Dit is niet voldoende om de prestaties van de SSD stabiel te houden onder continue belasting.

De Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 kan uitgerust worden met in totaal twee apparaten voor massaopslag. Naast de NVMe SSD is er ook nog ruimte in het apparaat voor een 2,5-inch massaopslag. Maar let wel op de maximale hoogte van zeven millimeter.

Grafische kaart

De geïntegreerde grafische eenheid heeft de vorm van een Intel UHD Graphics met 64 EUs. Door de beperkte prestaties van de SoC hebben we hier slechtere prestaties waargenomen dan bij de Minisforum Venus Series NAB6. In principe zijn de iGPU-prestaties alleen nuttig voor eenvoudige 2D-afbeeldingen. De iGPU is eenvoudigweg te zwak voor veeleisende 3D-graphics. De nieuwere Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 modellen zijn iets krachtiger, maar deze zijn beduidend inferieur vergeleken met de huidige iGPU's van AMD, zoals de AMD Radeon 680M of de AMD Radeon 780M.

Gamingprestaties

De Intel UHD Graphics beperkte 3D-prestaties temperen het speelplezier enigszins. Dat is echter niet het doel waar Minisforum op mikt met de Venus Series UN1245. Speelbare framerates zijn alleen mogelijk in oudere titels. DeIntel UHD Graphicskan alleen nieuwere games aan bij 720p op de laagste detailinstellingen. Meer 3D-kracht is mogelijk met deMinisforum UM790 Proen zijnAMD Radeon 780M. U kunt nog meer gamingprestaties krijgen met de HX99Gevenals met de NUCXi7die ook van Minisforum komt. Ze leveren allebei uitstekende gamingprestaties dankzij hun speciale grafische kaarten.

Geluidsemissies

In onze volumemetingen voldoet de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 niet helemaal aan de standaard die we van Minisforum gewend zijn. Met iets meer dan 32 dB(A) is het systeem stil maar permanent hoorbaar. Als het apparaat wordt ingedrukt, wordt het snel luider en bij 39,8 dB(A) zelfs aanzienlijk luider. In de stresstest werd het echter weer iets luider, met een piekgeluidsniveau van meer dan 43 dB(A). In de huidige vergelijking presteert ons recensie-exemplaar alleen beter dan de Blackview MP200 en dat is ook alleen onder belasting.

Temperatuur

De behuizing van de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 warmt slechts licht op wanneer deze stationair draait en onder belasting. Thermische hotspots zijn alleen te vinden in de buurt van de ventilatieopeningen aan de achterkant van het apparaat.

Aangezien Minisforum de Intel Core i5-12450H slechts 45 watt levert, hebben we geen kritieke waarden waargenomen tijdens de stresstest. We noteerden een maximum van 80 °C in de Prime95-stresstest. Wanneer de CPU en iGPU tegelijkertijd worden belast, daalt de maximumtemperatuur iets omdat het stroomverbruik moet worden gedeeld. Dat is ook de reden waarom we lagere 3D-prestaties hebben gedocumenteerd met dit testapparaat, aangezien een effectievere koeling zou betekenen dat de SoC op 95 watt zou kunnen werken.

De Minisforum Venus-serie UN1245 met een 90-watt PSU

Omdat Minisforum de Intel Core i5-12450H niet zijn maximale prestaties gunt, is het stroomverbruik vrij laag. Als de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 Fidel draait, heeft deze slechts 8,2 tot 9,6 watt nodig. In de stresstest zagen we een relatief lage waarde van 73,6 watt, hoewel de concurrentie vaak de grens van 100 watt aantikt of zelfs overschrijdt (Minisforum Venus-serie NAB6). Hierdoor is de meegeleverde 90-watt PSU voldoende groot en kan deze voldoende capaciteit leveren voor een tweede apparaat voor massaopslag.

Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 beoordeling - beschikbaar gesteld door Minisforum

De Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 is een bescheiden mini PC die uitermate geschikt is voor alledaags kantoorwerk. Met deIntel Core i5-12450Hkrijgt u een uitstekende SoC die zowel zuinig is als alles aankan. Helaas voldoet de SoC niet aan de verwachtingen, omdat de vermogenslimiet een rem zet op de multi-core prestaties. Toegegeven, vanuit een subjectief oogpunt is deze beperking niet bijzonder merkbaar. Als gevolg van het prijsverschil met de apparaten uit de Venus-serie van hogere kwaliteit, zult u genoegen moeten nemen met een plastic behuizing. Wij vinden dit echter niet zo kritisch als het feit dat Minisforum de Venus Series UN1245 heeft uitgerust met een zeer kleine koeleenheid. Deze is altijd aanwezig en onder belasting zelfs duidelijk hoorbaar. Op dit gebied zijn we andere/betere opties van Minisforum gewend.

De Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 is een solide werkinstrument met een uitstekende prijs-prestatieverhouding.

Met slechts $ 310 is de Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 zeer betaalbaar en dat kan het verschil maken. Natuurlijk mogen we niet vergeten dat $310 alleen betrekking heeft op het barebone systeem en dat ons evaluatie-exemplaar een vraagprijs van rond de $429 heeft. Maar zelfs dit is nog steeds erg goedkoop als we rekening houden met het vermogen.

Wat de aansluitmogelijkheden betreft, wordt het pas op het tweede gezicht duidelijk dat we te maken hebben met de goedkopere versie van de Venus-serie. Terwijl bij de Minisforum Venus Series NAB6 nog dual LAN geïnstalleerd was, krijgt u hier slechts één netwerkaansluiting. Thunderbolt ontbreekt ook, wat niet het geval was bij de Minisforum Venus Series NPB5.

Prijs en beschikbaarheid

De Minisforum Venus Series UN1245 is momenteel niet verkrijgbaar in de Amerikaanse winkel van Minisforum. De Minisforum UN1245 is echter wel verkrijgbaar op Amazon. U kunt hem daar momenteel kopen voor $ 310.
