Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (25.3 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.9 (minimum) tot 636 (maximum) ms. » 8 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (40.4 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM niet waargenomen

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 9524 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz waargenomen.

De XMG Neo 15 kan concurreren op de top van de zeer competitieve slanke gaming laptop markt, maar kan de huidige leiders Gigabyte Aero 15X (88%) en Razer Blade 15 (87%) niet verslaan.

De algemene indruk is meer vergelijkbaar met respectievelijk de MSI GS65 (86%) en Asus ROG GU501GM (85%).

Positieve aspecten zijn de zeer compacte en verrassend stevige metalen behuizing, dat - behalve Thunderbolt 3 of USB 3.1 Gen.2 - veel poorten en een mechanisch toetsenbord (met RGB-verlichting) biedt. Dit laatste is een echt koopargument en tilt de Neo 15 boven de concurrentie uit.

We zijn ook te spreken over het beeldscherm: de combinatie van IPS, 144 Hz en een dunne beeldschermrand is bijna alles wat u verwacht van een dure laptop in 2018.

Er zijn ook enkele nadelen, zoals de luidsprekerkwaliteit en de emissies (temperatuur, geluidontwikkeling). De Neo 15 wordt niet alleen behoorlijk warm bij het laden, maar is ook erg luid. Barebone-fabrikant Tongfang moet ook werken aan de ventilatorregeling tijdens het stationair draaien en de capaciteit van de batterij, die op zijn minst ongeveer 70 Wh moet zijn voor een betere mobiliteit.
