Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.

≤ 1.73 cd/m² helderheid

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 245.1 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 1 % (1.73 cd/m²) en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 245.1 Hz is redelijk laag en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering kunnen dit dus waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen (gebruikmakend van de vermelde helderheid en lager).

Aangezien flickering alleen optreedt aan een lage helderheid is het geen probleem met de gangbare instellingen. Alleen lezen bij weinig licht kan vermoeiend zijn.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17507 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (24.4 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

De Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 + is momenteel de grootste premium tablet in het Android-segment. Het 12,4 inch Super AMOLED-display biedt een geweldige kleurweergave. Het is echter niet helder genoeg voor gebruik buitenshuis. Het is jammer dat Samsung er niet in is geslaagd zijn Dynamic AMOLED-technologie hier te implementeren.

De Wi-Fi-prestaties zijn erg onstabiel. Bij dagelijks gebruik vallen de prestaties echter nooit onder een kritieke drempel. Toch zou Samsung hier wat verbeteringen moeten aanbrengen. Dit geldt ook voor de batterijduur, die zelfs bij minimale helderheid behoorlijk slecht is, wanneer de communicatiemodules zijn ingeschakeld.

De Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 + is een krachtige premium tablet, die zowel geschikt is voor mediaconsumptie als voor professioneel gebruik.

In de kern is de Tab S7 + een goede tablet. Hier heeft Samsung veel goed gedaan. De Tab S7 + heeft een zeer snelle SoC en het 120 Hz-scherm verbetert de gebruikerservaring, niet alleen tijdens het gamen. De S Pen, die wordt meegeleverd in de doos, is een krachtig hulpmiddel voor het maken van notities, tekenen en presentaties. Bovendien wordt de Android-tablet ook geleverd met een optioneel 5G-modem, wat de Tab S7 + behoorlijk toekomstbestendig zou moeten maken als Samsung zijn beloftes over software-updates nakomt.
