Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 23810 Hz ≤ 38 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 23810 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 38 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 23810 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 51 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 17699 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 24 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (24.4 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Een algemeen oordeel over de nieuwste Huawei-tablet is bijna onmogelijk gezien het ontbreken van mobiele Google-services en het ontbreken van een Widevine L1-certificering - individuele voorkeuren en persoonlijk gebruiksgedrag staan hier centraal. Multimedialiefhebbers moeten zich ervan bewust zijn dat het afspelen van DRM-beveiligde inhoud erg slecht is. We zullen duidelijk maken of dit de Duitse versie beïnvloedt zodra het testexemplaar met Duitse software ons bereikt.

Het ontbreken van Google-services maakt het erg moeilijk om Google-apps te gebruiken en leidt tot problemen met veel apps van derden. Applicaties van externe bronnen kunnen worden geïnstalleerd, maar dit brengt een beveiligingsrisico met zich mee voor onervaren gebruikers, en zelfs ervaren gebruikers zullen soms niet begrijpen hoe APK-bestanden van externe bronnen met hun systeem omgaan.

Desondanks biedt de MatePad Pro een goed klinkend luidsprekersysteem, lange batterijduur en behoorlijke prestaties. Daarnaast heeft de tablet van Huawei een zeer goede constructie en features die zelden in de tabletmarkt terug te vinden zijn, zoals draadloos opladen en omgekeerd draadloos opladen.

Maar de hardware van de MatePad Pro staat niet boven kritiek. Gezien de prijsklasse zou de tablet moeten worden geleverd met een veilige biometrische ontgrendelingsoptie en een voldoende krachtige voeding van 40 Watt. Daarnaast kan een premium tablet ofwel een OLED-scherm hebben ofwel een IPS-scherm met een hoge verversingssnelheid à la de iPad Pro. De beslissing om voor LC-technologie met bijhorende zwaktes (clouding, kijkhoeken) te kiezen, in combinatie met de punch-hole (dat schaduwen creëert), zal beeldscherm-fans niet blij maken.

De MatePad Pro is een mooie tablet, maar over het algemeen is het voor de meesten niet echt aan te bevelen.
