Kort testrapport Oppo A91: slanke smartphone met groot scherm

Degelijke, knappe jongen. De A91 wordt door Oppo geadverteerd als een instapmodel smartphone, maar staat met 300 euro al op de drempel van de middenklasse. De telefoon van Oppo tracht te scoren met een groot AMOLED-display, veel geheugen, een quad-camera en een grote batterij. In de review kom je te weten of het totaalpakket ook geslaagd is.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd beter is dan het gemiddelde (24.6 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 250 Hz ≤ 99 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 250 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 99 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 250 Hz is redelijk laag en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering kunnen dit dus waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen (gebruikmakend van de vermelde helderheid en lager).

Ter vergelijking: 50 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 18037 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

De Oppo A91 is een smartphone in de hogere instapklasse en concurreert rechtstreeks met Samsung's topper, de Galaxy A51. De A91 overtuigt met een groot AMOLED-scherm, dat kan uitpakken met zowel schermkwaliteit als maximale helderheid. De snelle SoC zorgt voor degelijke prestaties, en er is ook voldoende geheugen beschikbaar, dat indien nodig kan worden uitgebreid met een microSD-kaart zonder een SIM-slot op te offeren. De vingerafdrukscanner is geïntegreerd in het paneel en met VOOC-opladen wordt de smartphone snel weer opgeladen.  

De Oppo A91 positioneert zich met zijn evenwichtige totaalpakket tussen instapniveau en middenklasse.

De camera's van de Oppo A91 overtuigen met goede opnames bij daglicht en op korte afstand, maar de twee extra 2-MP lenzen bieden in de praktijk geen zichtbaar voordeel. De batterijduur is goed, maar voldoet niet aan de verwachtingen die de hoge batterijcapaciteit oproept. Niettemin slaagt Oppo erin een evenwichte smartphone te maken, die qua uiterlijk ook een echte blikvanger is.
