Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 714.3 Hz
≤ 15 cd/m² helderheid

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 714.3 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 15 cd/m² en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 714.3 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Aangezien flickering alleen optreedt aan een lage helderheid is het geen probleem met de gangbare instellingen. Alleen lezen bij weinig licht kan vermoeiend zijn.

Ter vergelijking: 50 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 18300 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 2500000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde relatief trage responstijden in onze tests en is misschien te traag voor games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 47 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (24.7 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Met de Mote G8 Power kunnen gebruikers als hoogtepunt de geweldige batterijduur verwachten. De smartphone kan niet bekritiseerd worden op dit vlak aangezien het toestel het in onze Wi-Fi praktijktest meer dan 16 uur volhield. Echter biedt de Moto G8 Power meer dan een goede batterijduur. Zo zijn de camera’s verrassend goed, net als zijn vrijwel stock Android ervaring. In het algeheel is de Moto G8 Power een solide set hardware voor een smartphone in deze prijsklasse.

De Motorola Moto G8 Power zal mensen vooral kunnen overtuigen met de lange batterijduur.

Hoewel de smartphone goed gebouwd is, maakt de grote batterij de smartphone vrij dik. Of dit stoort is een kwestie van smaak, maar de smartphone schiet tekort qua Wi-Fi connectiviteit. Er is alleen maar ondersteuning tot en met de Wi-Fi 4 standaard. Dit is voldoende voor de meeste thuisnetwerken. De Moto G8 Power wordt wel degelijk door de concurrentie overtroffen op dit vlak. Uiteindelijk blijft de Motorola Moto G8 Power een goede en betaalbare handset, maar of zijn tekortkomingen je dwarszitten zal afhankelijk zijn van wat je belangrijk vindt in een smartphone.
