Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

Om de schermhelderheid te verlagen schakelen sommige laptops het backlight erg snel aan en uit. Dit gebeurt aan een dergelijk hoge frequentie dat het niet zichtbaar is voor het menselijk oog. Als de frequentie te laag is kunnen personen met gevoelige ogen geïrriteerd geraken, hoofdpijn krijgen en zelfs flickering waarnemen.
Screen flickering / PWM waargenomen 2315 Hz ≤ 17 % helderheid instelling

Het backlight van het scherm flikkert aan 2315 Hz (hoogstwaarschijnlijk met PWM - Pulse-Width Modulation) aan een helderheid van 17 % en lager. Boven deze helderheid zou er geen flickering / PWM mogen optreden.

De frequentie van 2315 Hz is redelijk hoog en de meeste mensen die gevoelig zijn aan flickering zouden dit dus niet mogen waarnemen of geïrriteerde ogen krijgen.

Ter vergelijking: 52 % van alle geteste toestellen maakten geen gebruik van PWM om de schermhelderheid te verlagen. Als het wel werd gebruikt, werd een gemiddelde van 20931 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz waargenomen.

Responstijd Scherm

De responstijden van het scherm tonen hoe snel het scherm in staat is om van één kleur naar de andere te veranderen. Trage responstijden kunnen aanleiding geven tot 'nabeelden' rond bewegende objecten of het scherm wazig maken (blur). Vooral spelers van snelle 3D-games hebben baat bij een scherm met snelle responstijden.

Het scherm vertoonde prima responstijden in onze tests maar is misschien wat te traag voor competitieve games.
Ter vergelijking: alle testtoestellen variëren van 0.8 (minimum) tot 240 (maximum) ms. » 39 % van alle toestellen zijn beter.
Dit betekent dat de gemeten responstijd vergelijkbaar is met het gemiddelde (23.8 ms) van alle geteste toestellen.

Na slechts zes maanden lanceert Motorola zijn nieuwste toevoeging aan de populaire G-serie. Met een nieuw scherm, glazen achterkant, dual-camera en de nieuwe Snapdragon 450 is de sprong groter dan die van de Moto G5 naar de G5s.

We dienen ook (positief) op te merken dat de fabrikant de prijs niet heeft verhoogd. Met een prijs van 249 (~$298; ongeveer $250 in de VS) bij lancering komt het toestel toch redelijk dicht in de buurt van een aantal krachtigere concurrenten die al langer verkrijgbaar zijn, zoals de BQ Aquaris X Pro of bijvoorbeeld de Moto X4. Hier zal echter verandering in komen wanneer de prijs in de komende maanden zal zakken.

Visueel lijkt de Motorola Moto G6 erg op een Moto X4 Light en behoudt hij erg veel positieve eigenschappen van zijn grotere zustermodel.

In onze tests wist de Moto G6 ons te overtuigen met zijn goede dual-camera en moderne, aantrekkelijke design. Hoewel de smartphone alleen verkrijgbaar is in één kleur, vinden we het uiterlijk erg geslaagd. Het scherm is erg helder en contrastrijk en de batterijduur is meer dan degelijk.

We waren niet altijd tevreden met de kwaliteit van de WLAN-connectie tijdens de test, aangezien de sterkte zelfs vlakbij de router op en neer ging en het bereik snel wegviel als er een muur tussen de smartphone en de router kwam. Toch vinden we de Motorola al bij al een geslaagde update.
