The display is disappointing, even at its often discounted price, while the performance and battery life are easier to take for under $700. The OmniBook is fine for basic tasks like web browsing, but if that's all you need a laptop for, you may consider going even cheaper with one of the best laptops under $500! On the other end of the spectrum, if you're looking for a high-performance laptop for work or creative tasks, you will be much better off with the MacBook Air M4 or one of the best 16-inch laptops. As much as I want to like every laptop I review, there are simply too many drawbacks to recommend the HP OmniBook 5 Laptop AI for most users unless it is deeply discounted.

You are compromising on ports against key rivals, though. Likewise, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7441 (2024) trades an OLED screen for more potency and a better port selection against HP’s choice.

EN→NLThe HP OmniBook 5 Flip find itself in the crowded space of laptops priced between 65-70K. It, however, stands out from the competition, thanks to a host of good features on offer. It is a convertible laptop for those that need to use it in tablet mode, has good overall performance, a good display and impressive speakers. The keyboard and trackpad get the job done as well. The build is good overall, considering the price. It has a decent selection of ports as well. What it lacks is that I personally feel the laptop is a tad heavier than I like. Otherwise, it is a value-for-money proposition for productivity on the go.

HP: Het Amerikaanse bedrijf werd opgericht in 1939 en is een belangrijke server- en printerfabrikant en een van de toonaangevende IT-bedrijven ter wereld. Tot 2015 heette het bedrijf Hewlett-Packard Company. Na een splitsing werd de computerdivisie omgedoopt tot HP Inc.
In 2023 had HP een geschat marktaandeel van 22% van de wereldwijde pc-verkoop, waarmee het nummer 2 werd na Lenovo.
Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.
AMD Radeon 780M:
Geïntegreerde grafische kaart in de Ryzen 7040 mobiele serie APU's gebaseerd op de RDNA3-architectuur met 12 CU's (= 768 shaders) en een kloksnelheid tot 3 GHz.
AMD Radeon 840M: Een vrij krachtige iGPU met RDNA 3.5 architectuur die begin 2025 debuteerde en een directe opvolger is van de Radeon 760M. De 8 CU's/WGP's (512 unified shaders) draaien op maximaal 3 GHz. DX12 Ultimate, ray tracing, AI-beeldgeneratie en andere moderne functies worden allemaal ondersteund, net als veel populaire videocodecs, waaronder in de eerste plaats AVC, HEVC, VP9 en AV1. De gamingprestaties zijn goed genoeg voor het spelen van 2024 games op lage grafische instellingen.
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs:
Geïntegreerde grafische kaart in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoC's op basis van de nieuwe Gen. 12-architectuur met 96 EU's (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). De kloksnelheid is afhankelijk van het processormodel. De Tiger Lake chips worden geproduceerd in het moderne 10nm+ proces bij Intel.
Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: Een geïntegreerde grafische adapter waar de Snapdragon X Plus 8-core X1P-42-100 SoC over beschikt. Vergeleken met de snellere 3,8 TFLOPS en 4,6 TFLOPS X1-85 iGPU's draait deze niet alleen op lagere kloksnelheden, maar heeft deze ook minder verenigde shaders tot zijn beschikking, met 768 als meest waarschijnlijke aantal. De onderliggende architectuur verschilt naar verluidt niet veel van die van de Adreno 730. Wat betreft de gamingprestaties, deze zijn maar net voldoende voor games van voor 2020 bij resoluties zoals HD 720p op lage grafische instellingen.
Intel Graphics 4-Core iGPU (Arrow Lake): Geïntegreerde grafische kaart gebaseerd op de Xe LPG-architectuur (vergelijkbaar met de speciale Arc GPU's, maar met de nadruk op efficiëntie). Biedt 4 Xe-kernen (64 Xe vector-engines) en 4 ray-tracing-eenheden.
Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs:
Geïntegreerde grafische kaart in Intel Tiger Lake G7 SoC's op basis van de nieuwe Gen. 12-architectuur met 80 EU's (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). De kloksnelheid is afhankelijk van het processormodel. De Tiger Lake chips worden geproduceerd in het moderne 10nm+ proces bij Intel.

AMD Hawk Point (Zen 4/4c):
R7 8840U: Een krachtige laptopprocessor (APU) uit de Hawk Point familie. Dit is geen geheel nieuwe APU; in plaats daarvan is de R7 8840U een vermomde R7 7840U. De acht Zen 4 cores draaien op 3,3 GHz tot 5,1 GHz en zijn SMT-enabled voor een totaal van 16 verwerkingsthreads. De geweldige Radeon 780M iGPU is verantwoordelijk voor 3D-verwerking en soortgelijke taken en de 8840U beschikt ook over de tweede generatie Ryzen AI-technologie.
AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:
Ryzen AI 5 340: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Krackan Point-familie die begin 2025 werd geïntroduceerd. De APU bevat 6 CPU-kernen (drie Zen 5-kernen met maximaal 4,8 GHz en drie Zen 5c-kernen met maximaal 3,4 GHz). De geïntegreerde Ryzen AI levert tot 50 INT8 TOPS voor het versnellen van verschillende AI workloads.
Intel Raptor Lake-U:
Core 7 150U: High-end mobiele processor gebaseerd op de Alder Lake architectuur. Biedt 2 prestatiekernen en 8 efficiëntiekernen en kan 12 threads tegelijk verwerken. De maximale turboklok van de P-kernen is 5,4 GHz. De i5-1365U ondersteunt ook vPro Essentials beheerfuncties.
i5-1334U: Op Alder Lake gebaseerde mobiele CPU met 2 prestatie-kernen en 8 efficiënte kernen. De prestatie-kernen bieden hyper-threading, wat leidt tot 12 threads die verwerkt kunnen worden. De CPU klokt van 0,9 tot 4,6 GHz. De TDP is gespecificeerd op 15 Watt.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X:
SD X Plus X1P-42-100: Een relatief betaalbare ARM-architectuur system-on-a-chip voor gebruik in Windows-laptops die op 20 mei 2024 zijn debuut zal maken. De X1P-42-100 heeft naar verluidt 8 Oryon CPU-kernen (8 P-cores, 0 E-cores) die draaien op een nog onbekende kloksnelheid van minstens 3 GHz. Een 3,8 TFLOPS Adreno GPU, een 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, een indrukwekkend snelle LPDDR5x-8448 geheugencontroller, USB 4.0 ondersteuning, TB 4 ondersteuning en PCIe 4 ondersteuning zijn waarschijnlijk allemaal aan boord. Deze X Plus-chip maakt geen gebruik van dezelfde chip waarop de X1P-64-100, X1E-78-100, X1E-80-100 en X1E-84-100 zijn gebaseerd.
SD X1-26-100: Een betaalbare ARM-architectuurprocessor (SoC) voor gebruik in Windows-laptops. De 8-core Snapdragon X-chip heeft 8 Oryon CPU-kernen die draaien op maximaal 2,98 GHz, samen met de 1,7 TFLOPS X1-45 Adreno iGPU en de 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU. De supersnelle LPDDR5x-8448 geheugencontroller die we kennen van andere Snapdragon X-chips, USB 4.0-ondersteuning, TB 4-ondersteuning en PCIe 4-ondersteuning zijn ook allemaal aan boord.
Intel Arrow Lake:
Ultra 7 255U: Een middenklasse Meteor Lake-chip die in december 2023 zijn debuut maakte. Deze Core Ultra-processor van de 1e generatie vervangt de Core-processors van de 13e generatie; hij beschikt over 12 kernen (2 + 8 + 2) en 14 threads. De Performance cores, waarvan er 2 zijn, draaien op maximaal 4,8 GHz, terwijl de Efficient cores, waarvan er 10 zijn (8 hoofdkernen plus 2 extra in het Low Power Island) op maximaal 3,8 GHz draaien. De 4-core Intel Arc Graphics, die net uit de oven komt, dient als geïntegreerde grafische adapter - deze draait op maximaal 1,95 GHz - en er is ook een groot aantal andere gloednieuwe technologieën beschikbaar, waaronder de geïntegreerde AI Boost NPU met twee Gen 3 engines voor hardware AI-werklastversnelling. Het basisverbruik van deze laptopprocessor is 15 W, met 57 W als het door Intel aanbevolen maximale Turbo-verbruik.
