The ASUS Vivobook 16 in Intel form will cost slightly more than its AMD counterpart at RM3,199, but just like the Team Red’s laptop, this is a budget workhorse for those who want to get things done without blowing a big hole into their wallets. However, I’d personally stick with the AMD version because there’s more multi-core performance on offer (which will be noticeable compared to single-core), even at a slight battery life deficit.

The screen might be a limitation for specific uses, but the performance is surprisingly strong, even handling some games. I do recommend you check out this laptop if it suits your budget as we’re getting quite good value here. It’s just the screen that I wish was better.

So, at the end, this laptop is RM3,199 and I think it’s quite good in terms of value. Sure, the screen is might be a problem for certain use cases, but the performance is actually really good. We can even play some games on it and I think that’s great. However, if you want something at around the same price but with more performance, then take a look at this MSI laptop. Still, if you just want something simple – then the ASUS Vivobook 16 A1607 should be on your list. It’s supremely affordable at just RM2,999. I know that the price is enticing, but please know what you’re getting into before actually purchasing a Snapdragon laptop. I will say it again – app compatibility has improved a lot – and you can check out this website to find out if the apps you use are compatible or not – but compatibility does not mean the apps will run with the best performance possible. From experience, DaVinci Resolve and some games can be launched but the performance is… disappointing, to say the least. The screen is roomy, the keyboard comfortable, the performance snappy, and the battery genuinely long-lasting. Shortcomings do exist. The panel is merely adequate for colour work, the port arrangement omits SD and Type-C charging, and the webcam could use an upgrade. Yet, weighed against the asking price, those flaws shrink. For students who juggle research, coding projects, and Netflix, for remote workers who crave a bigger canvas than a 13-inch ultrabook can provide, and for families who want one machine that handles homework by day and light gaming by night, the Vivobook 16 M1607KA represents strong value.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.

Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.

Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.

De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.

Deze grafische kaarten zouden alle huidige spellen moeten kunnen draaien, maar de meeste spellen zullen alleen met gemiddelde of lage detail instellingen en lage resoluties goed werken. Oudere of minder veeleisende spellen kunnen nog wel met goede grafische instellingen gespeeld worden.

Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs:

Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: Een geïntegreerde grafische adapter waar de Snapdragon X Plus 8-core X1P-42-100 SoC over beschikt. Vergeleken met de snellere 3,8 TFLOPS en 4,6 TFLOPS X1-85 iGPU's draait deze niet alleen op lagere kloksnelheden, maar heeft deze ook minder verenigde shaders tot zijn beschikking, met 768 als meest waarschijnlijke aantal. De onderliggende architectuur verschilt naar verluidt niet veel van die van de Adreno 730. Wat betreft de gamingprestaties, deze zijn maar net voldoende voor games van voor 2020 bij resoluties zoals HD 720p op lage grafische instellingen.

AMD Radeon 860M: Een vrij krachtige iGPU met RDNA 3.5 architectuur die begin 2025 debuteerde en een directe opvolger is van de Radeon 760M. De 8 CU's/WGP's (512 unified shaders) draaien op maximaal 3 GHz. DX12 Ultimate, ray tracing, AI-beeldgeneratie en andere moderne functies worden allemaal ondersteund, net als veel populaire videocodecs, waaronder in de eerste plaats AVC, HEVC, VP9 en AV1. De gamingprestaties zijn goed genoeg voor het spelen van 2024 games op lage grafische instellingen.

Intel Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 PTL: De Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 is een geïntegreerde grafische kaart in Panther Lake SoC's met 4 Xe3-kernen (32 EU's / 512 ALU's), 4 raytracing-kernen en een kloksnelheid tot 2450 MHz.

Intel Raptor Lake-U:

Core 5 120U: High-end mobiele processor gebaseerd op de Alder Lake architectuur. Biedt 2 prestatiekernen en 8 efficiëntiekernen en kan 12 threads tegelijk verwerken. De maximale turboklok van de P-kernen is 5 GHz.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X:

SD X1-26-100: Een betaalbare ARM-architectuurprocessor (SoC) voor gebruik in Windows-laptops. De 8-core Snapdragon X-chip heeft 8 Oryon CPU-kernen die draaien op maximaal 2,98 GHz, samen met de 1,7 TFLOPS X1-45 Adreno iGPU en de 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU. De supersnelle LPDDR5x-8448 geheugencontroller die we kennen van andere Snapdragon X-chips, USB 4.0-ondersteuning, TB 4-ondersteuning en PCIe 4-ondersteuning zijn ook allemaal aan boord.

AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:

Ryzen AI 7 350: Een relatief krachtige processor uit de Krackan Point-familie die begin 2025 werd geïntroduceerd. De APU bevat 8 CPU-kernen (4 Zen 5-kernen met maximaal 5 GHz en 4 Zen 5c-kernen met maximaal 3,5 GHz).

Intel Panther Lake:

Ultra 5 325: Mobiele mid-range 8-core SoC uit de Panther Lake familie met 4 Xe3 GPU-kernen. Net als bij Lunar Lake biedt de ingebouwde NPU 5 50 TOPS en nu ondersteuning voor FP8.
