De ROG Strix G16 is de derde Strix die we in een nog rijpende 2023 hebben gereviewd. Op basis van recente ervaringen is de keuze om te downsizen naar een 16-inch model een goede. We zien dat de 4080 perfect past tussen de RTX 4090 en RTX 4070. In de ROG Strix G16 kan de GeForce grafische kaart eindelijk zijn capaciteiten tonen.

Het enige wat ik niet zo fijn is, is het toetsenbord. Typen gaat goed, maar 8 toetsen (q w e r a s d f) zijn transparant met witte letters en de rest is zwart met transparante letters. Begrijp niet waarom ze dat zo hebben gedaan. Als het donker is en backlight staat aan, kun je de witte letters niet zo duidelijk zien. Ook verschillen ze van de andere toetsen, waardoor typen wat uitdagender wordt. Misschien (indien mogelijk) zal ik deze vervangen door stickers of alternatieve keycaps. Al met al is het tot nu toe een goede ervaring geweest. Vooral het ventilatorgeluid (of het gebrek daaraan) is erg fijn. Wel blij dat mijn MSI het begaf en ik voor een gaming laptop durfde te gaan.

On balance the Asus ROG Strix G16 hits all the right notes for performance, functionality and style. Not only does it deliver excellent CPU and GPU performance, all the ports you need, and a slick cyberpunk attitude, but it also has a gorgeous display and is priced considerably lower than at least one key rival. Sure, it has some shortcomings, like the average battery life, more plastic in its chassis than some competitor laptops, and a low-resolution webcam. But with performance this good, those quirks fall by the wayside.

I’ve been using the ROG Strix G16 for the past few weeks as essentially a desktop replacement and I’ve really enjoyed the experience. I’ve been around gaming laptops for a very long time and having one that isn’t necessarily massive or too heavy to carry with you that still provides desktop-like performance to me is impressive. The ROG Strix G16 actually did fit into my current laptop backpack and the little over 5lbs again isn’t too heavy in my opinion. So if you are thinking about taking this to and from work or travelling a lot with it, it is not going to be that bad. Another thing that is nice is that you don’t have to take the massive power brick with you everywhere, one of the Type-C ports does support 100W charging.

ASUS ROG Strix G16 Review: Balanced Performance Meets Gaming Value

Frankly speaking, we sometimes feel a little silly reviewing systems like the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 or the HP Omen Max 16. These are fantastic laptops, but they're luxuries reserved for those who have the spare cash to enjoy them. The new ASUS ROG Strix G16 isn't cheap, but its $2,499 price point feels like something achievable for mere mortals. What do you lose in the step down from those larger flagships? Mostly, half the GPU's streaming multiprocessors. The jump down from the GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop to the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU is a big one, to be sure. Yet, in real games, the performance loss was often less than the numbers would suggest, and with the potent AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D driving the smaller GPU, you end up with a very smooth and consistent gaming experience. Suffice to say that we're very fond of the ROG Strix G16.

I have to give ASUS its just dues, the ROG Strix G16 is a much better gaming laptop than I would've predicted had you asked me before I began testing it. I absolutely love the Zephyrus line and ASUS' consumer laptops, but the Strix products have never particularly amazed me. The ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025, AMD) isn't revolutionary by any means, but it is a really good, well-rounded gaming laptop with an excellent keyboard and fantastic, reliable performance. It's also priced well, and it's sure to go on sale in the coming months, too. It was nice to test a gaming laptop powered by AMD's latest instead of Intel, too. I just wish this version had benefited from the same design update as the Intel-powered Strix G16, and that we had more configuration options to build our dream laptop.

After all, the Blade 16 is ultra-lightweight and sports a more powerful GPU, up to the Nvidia RTX 5090. And it gets far better battery life than the Alienware or the Strix. The flashy redesign paired with fiercely powerful new chips means there are just so many things to love about this guy. And if you’re looking for a powerful gaming/content creation laptop that will age gracefully over the years, the Strix G16 definitely looks like one of your top choices at around NPR 4 lakhs. Yes, I completely agree that Asus could’ve done a better job in terms of the price. Considering there are other RTX 5070 Ti laptops in Nepal at a lower price, like the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 AI (2025). But the Strix G16 does have its own charm with a superior design, Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, nicer RGB, and slightly better thermals, to name a few.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is een grote Taiwanese fabrikant van computerhardware gevestigd in Taipei, opgericht in 1989. Onder de merknaam Asus produceert het bedrijf een breed scala aan producten, waaronder laptops, desktops, moederborden, grafische kaarten, monitoren, smartphones en netwerkapparatuur, complete systemen en pc-onderdelen voor eindgebruikers.
Onder de merknaam ROG (Republic of Gamers) produceert ASUS gaming laptops die bij gamers bekend staan om hun krachtige specificaties, speciale grafische kaarten, schermen met hoge verversingssnelheid en geavanceerde koelsystemen.
Naast gaming wordt een breed scala aan notebooks aangeboden voor verschillende behoeften en budgetten, van ultraslanke en lichtgewicht ultrabooks tot veelzijdige 2-in-1 convertibles en budgetvriendelijke opties. In 2023 had Asus wereldwijd een marktaandeel van 7% op de pc-markt.
De klanttevredenheid over ASUS-notebooks heeft betrekking op de prestaties, de functies en de goede prijs-prestatieverhouding van ASUS-notebooks. Zoals bij elk merk zijn er echter af en toe meldingen van problemen zoals oververhitting, drivercompatibiliteit of problemen met de bouwkwaliteit.
