First up, you've got that beefy Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in charge. Gamers can play intensive titles like Wuthering Waves on the Xiaomi 17, same as the Samsung S26. However, this smartphone does get quite toasty, to worrying degrees. That Leica camera setup is a banger as always, with fresh hardware for this 2026 model (unlike the Galaxy S26). You can capture great-looking night shots and portraits, with a decent telephoto shooter attached. The Xiaomi 17 is also decent for recording video, if you want a mini vlogging device.

With Samsung bringing this kind of ammunition to the fight, Xiaomi would do well to spend a little less time trying to be Apple and a little more time figuring out how to compete with rivals inside the Android stable.
