Intel Z530

De Intel Atom Z530 is een energie besparende netbook / MID single-core processor. Vergeleken met de Atom N270 heeft de Z530 hardware virtualisatie ondersteuning en heeft Idle Sates en Demand Based Switching functies.

De Atom core werd ontworpen met een blik op een laag energieverbruik en goedkope productie. Het nadeel is zijn de relatief lage prestaties per Watt (door de in-order uitvoering) vergeleken met vergelijkbaar geklokte Celeron processoren, maar door de geïntegreerde hyperthreading (het besturingssysteem ziet de processor als een dual-core) verminderd het nadeel hiervan wat.

De prestaties van de Z530 zijn vergelijkbaar met die van een op 1,2 GHz geklokte Celeron M en daardoor enkel geschikt voor niet veeleisende toepassingen zoals office en internet. HD video's afspelen en geavanceerde beeldbewerking gaan er niet vlot mee lukken.
